The ALSJ specifically mentions that Armstrong didn't say this.

Why is this thread in Conspiracy Theories? Where's the conspiracy?

Nope, he really said it.

Again, where's the conspiracy in this thread?

Edit: In case it sounded like I'm contradicting myself in the two posts in this thread, in this post, I was referring to Buzz Aldrin's "rocket experience" line, not Armstrong's joke about Mr. Gorsky, just to be clear.

I was going to say--when you don't even do enough research to find the Snopes page, you clearly aren't doing any research.

What I wouldn't give to hear Buddy Hackett deliver this one... Does anyone know if it got recorded?

Believe it or not, this story was reported in the Wikipedia article on "Apollo 11" about a year and a half or two years ago. It was reported as fact.

I wish I had screen captured it.

Yeah, I know, Wikipedia... who woulda thunk?

Again, where's the conspiracy theory in this thread? I wondered if there was a claim that NASA had covered up Armstrong's statement because of the risque nature of it, but that doesn't make sense for two reasons.
1. According to the urban legend, Armstrong didn't explain what he meant for years, so NASA wouldn't have known that it was "adult" humor.
2. NASA didn't cover up Gene Cernan's profane exclamation on Apollo 10 or John Young's profane complaints about orange juice on Apollo 16.

I don't think I've ever read anything on Snopes, and I've done lots of research. Granted, none of it recent. But still.

. . . and I shouldn't be surprised, since it's how things always go, that as soon as I left this thread and BAUT's pages, I stumbled across an MSN headline about the "Julia Child Dropped Chicken" rumor. I clicked the link, and guess what page the article was actually hosted on?

I'm very familiar with that "particular poster", and have never had any qualms.

But when it comes to contemplated actions such as you described, channel Yoda. "Do or do not, there is no public discussion."

There is a moon landing-related story that just might possible be true. Allegedly, it was said about Hall of Fame pitcher Gaylord Perry that "man will land on the moon before Perry hits a home run." It so happens that Perry did hit his first major league home run on July 20, 1969. Both Perry and his former manager Alvin Dark think Dark said it, but it was years after the fact and might have been a "manufactured memory." FWIW, snopes gives the story an "undetermined" rating.

FWIW, I just read the same story in a "Where are they now?" article about Perry in Sports Illustrated.

Since the first Google return under "Mr. Gorsky" goes straight there, you can see my point, though, right? Ditto "Mr. Gorski," which both asks you if you wanted "Mr. Gorsky" and sends you to the Snopes page.

Oh, just because I posted in the thread doesn't mean I know / care about who / what "Mr. Gorsky" is. But admittedly, the name "snopes" is kinda catchy (and yes, I have heard of the site before).

Edit: and yes, I see your point.

I can categorically state that this is untrue. My wife has never had any qualms about ... well, you know.
