I gave a talk on the subject at a convention earlier this year. While it wasn't a clever title, I went for the rather more ambiguous "Did we really go to the moon", as I knew there were one or two people there that were doubters and I thought that might maximise the chances of them turning up. They didn't, but nearly everybody else did, possibly drawn in order to see which side of the fence I sat on. I think my first slide "Yes, dammit!" kinda tipped my hand, but everybody enjoyed it.

I can see why you asked for suggestions.
I've wracked my own small brain on this one and really cannot think of anything catchy or clever. Ok, maybe I'm not the best Control Subject to test that on... But still... It's tougher to think one up than one might guess it would be offhand. Part of the problem, again, may be my own perceptions. I attempted to link the Lunar Landings with references in Popular Culture to come up with a title- and my mind went right to quotes from "Spaceballs." Not, I think, the best popular culture to try to utilize... |

"To be, or not to be.....wait that is not the question, of course it is to be!"
Not really a good title, but it sums up the whole landing on the moon thing for me.

I think it depends a lot on who you plan to present it. If it's a serious thing where each claim is made and weighed in turn, then something like "Moon Landing: Myth or Fact?" would be good.
If it's a more tongue in cheek look at the claims, then Zapp's "Stone Knives and Bearskins" would be good. If it's aimed at the general public, where you'll be needed to explain some basic things, then maybe something like "Did We Go to the Moon? The Tools to Decide for Yourself" might be worth considering.

Proof It Aint Cheese: Lessons Learned From Apollo
It Came From Planet Earth Been There, Done That: Who Got the T-Shirt? Elegant Deficiency: A Critical Analysis of Hoax Theories (I think Zapp has this one in the bag - nice job Zapp!) ETA: As we know from the OP this is for presentation at a Sci-Fi Convention, so a catchy reference from a popular sci-fi show might be good, but probably not too corny or over-used.

"Aliens On the Moon!" might be catchy.
... of course, the aliens in question are us. Because, from a lunar perspective, we is the foreigners. (Shades of Bradbury: "There are the Martians!")

Ok, it seems to be open season on talk titles, I came up with these:
Moonshadows : see the photos! Parallel shadows of Apollo - (perhaps use this to show the reality, and alternatively the 'hoax theory' side) What's wrong with man on the moon? - "Nothing! It happened" as a conclusion Sorry, poor I know, but brain is thinking ahead to tomorrow....

I guess "ToSeek moons live on stage" would be off limits?
"Men walked on the moon: lunatic or not?" "Apollo: giant lie for mankind?"

This probably wouldn't fit the material you plan to present, but I've always wanted to see something like "How to fake a moon mission", with a complete analysis of what it would have taken to hoax it, and the obvious conclusion being "Ya know what? It would be both easier and cheaper to just send some guys up there."
More to the point, I'd avoid any title that gives away that you believe the landings happened. HBs won't attend because they "don't want to hear any more lies from a government shill", and you'll be left preaching to the choir. Something neutral like "Apollo: Fact or Fiction" might be good. |
