Okey guys I dont know if it's going to be 3 threads now cuse my internet have stopped working two times now, but here we go.
So I know that the Mayans had a very good and accurate calendar but they never predicted something like the end of the world with it and certainly not in the year 2012. Now every one at my school I's talking about it cuse the new trailer for the upcomming move 2012 has been realeasd. One guy said that 2012 is an error in time. And I asked him why and he answerd me that he saw a video on youtube about it. OFC youtube is the most trust full internet site when it comes down to these kinda stuffs (or not). Well here is the video about it. Is this something that we sould care about? I find it very hard to belive that some one that only have made a youtube account would know such a thing, it's more likele that NASA that have the money to launch rockets in space would know such a thing. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PuzuQIr_fPU ![]()

Two movies that are really annoying me with their ads are '2012' and 'The Fourth Kind'. Both imply that they are revealing some secret truth and both are immune from any rational rebuttal. On Youtube even if the comments are disabled you can make your own page, you can't put your own 30 second ad on network TV to say it's all (insert your own expletive).

Links? You want links? Links?
Maybe later... For now, here's a link to the links: article in topic We're not the only ones fighting 2012 nonsense for those who might want to know about the many false claims about year 2012. This topic hasn't earned the full list yet. Could though. I'm trying to hit 105, so every topic helps. === Edit: It's gone on enough. The topic is onto page 2, so I'll slip them in here on page 1, so they don't get in the way of active participants. But they'll be here if anyone comes along later -- especially those that are alarmed by the meritless predictions for year 2012. Here are some articles about the many aspects of the year 2012 predictions, and a long, long list of some BAUT Forum topics that have addressed the topic:
Woohoo. 97. And counting. (And a couple new allied articles.)

Just the other week, while sorting through the miscellany of my grand niece's leftover belongings (she was last heard from in Santiago, 17 months ago), beneath her dusty brass telescope and five-pound antique compass, I found this curious notation written in an unfamiliar script in the margin of an old book on the philosophical tenets of Mary C. S. Maker Addy: 2012 = 4 x 503 Refute that! |

TheOneYouSeek, I took a look at the website linked in the picture in your OP. I think it's a great site, and you (is it your site?) are performing a valuable public service, helping expose the 2012 end of the world stuff for the total bovine excrement that it is.
The story about the little girl scared to death by it was heartbreaking, and illustrates that this stuff isn't harmless. Dean Devlin and Roland Emmerich, the producers of the 2012 movie, as well as the producers of all the 2012 shockumentaries out now, should be thoroughly horsewhipped for scaring so many people, including children!! ![]() |

Yes It's a great site, but it aint mine. I just posted the image with the link on so that any one that is afraid of this stuff can take a look at it.
As for Dean Devlin and Roland Emmerich, they will look so stupid on dec 22 2012 and I hope they will feel bad about the fear they have caused. I think that that cristmas will be one of the most happiest cristmas for the scared childern. ![]()

http://www.skepticalmind.com/personal_stories.html will come from their movie and the hyping thereof, and whether they are up to discussing their responsibility... you know, the one that comes with 'free speech'. Nancy's zeta-rubbish was relatively unheard of, but now I am finding that in my locally well-known role as a 'debunker', several folk have already asked me about the 2012 thing. |

I would love to see that. Does anyone know how to contact them? I went to the 2012 movie site hoping to find a place to leave feedback to the Columbia/Sony Pictures people, but no luck. |

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2012_phenomenon David Morrison also link to that page on his website. There is only one thing that is bad with it and that is under the ''New Age'' part. But I guess all those people just want to sell there book's. Do you think that the ''New Age'' part i correct or just rubbish? IMO it's rubbish. ![]()

So adverts for a film like Superman would have to provide proof of the planet Krypton? or the Matrix would have to provide proof of ALiem Machines controlling us?

captain swoop, in the trailer for the movie a vocie from a man says: ''The mayan calendar has predicted the end of the world on dec 21 2012.''
I hope some people understand that it is just a movie but I think sony could insert some kind of disiclaimer in the trailer but that is my own opinion. But your statement is good, I think if some one that is worried about this would read this thread and then read your post would feel a bit calm. As for the wikipedia link in my other post, what do you think about the ''New Age'' part? ![]()

That's what makes 2012 different from your other examples. Unfortunately, there's money to be made in scaring people spitless, and the new movie and it's "viral" marketing makes things worse. Not to mention all the psuedo-documentaries on the History Channel, NatGeo and others. People, including young children, are being frightened by this nonsense, and it's just not right. |

As long as movie companies can make money by promoting this type of junk, then there is no reason for them to stop.

Keep repeating to yourself "its only a movie, its only a movie, its only a movie." From an old movie trailer.
