Actually Fazor, I think that's at least 250%...

Also, I just got 2 of my 5-a-day of sarcasm, and a whole 15 kilograms of geekiness.

They have to post at least ten times before we teach them the secret handshake.

Default An ancient

I am NASA retired, nearly 4 score years old. I worked on Gemini briefly, Apollo, Apollo-Soyuz, Space Shuttle and Space Station. I thought that I might enjoy reading what people are saying and thinking about the space program today. I will warn everybody that I am violently anti-anthropogenic global warming. What a hoax

TxBaylea,
Welcome to BAUt. I'm sure we will all love to hear about your experiences with NASA, as much as you will enjoy reading the discussions about the current space program.

There are currently a couple of threads in Science and Technology where AGW is being debated. Please keep in mind that while we enjoy lively debates, we don't wish them to become "violent" . And if you are serious that it is a hoax, there are certain rules for debating such things, and they must be in the Conspiracy Theory (CT) section -- please read up on the specifics for that.

I just thought I should add that one such rule is that threads in the CT section are to be about space-related conspiracies, and thus not a good place for a global-warming thread.

Other than that, welcome to BAUT!

Hi all. I'm Vern and I have an explorers heart; so it really kills me that the distances to all the really cool stuff out there are so big. Know what else kills me? The fact that I've been a fan for so long and have never ventured into these forums.

Hi all... I have come to this forum because of the recommendation of a good friend. I am also escaping from the Pravda English forum wherein I have been battling a bunch of forum members who firmly believe in the moon landing hoax. I do not.

Like many of you here I can remember the day the Eagle landed. I was a little squirt of ten and I was expecting monsters to jump Armstrong after he moved away from the ladder...that, or Robot B9 to come trundling along yelling, "Warning, warning!"
But reality was much nicer...more satisfying...like a home-cooked roast compared to a sloppy fast-food burger.

Hi Telly2, welcome to BAUT.

You and I must be almost exactly the same age - I was also a ten year old, watching on TV, and dreaming of space (though I don't recall thinking about monsters at the moment).

Yep! I'm almost the big "five oh". I am almost as wide as a bus, my nether regions are masked by a stomach the size of Olympus Mons and my back hurts as much as any pregnant lady's might!

Isn't growing old a pain!!! My head still thinks I'm nineteen but my bones are telling me otherwise!!!

And yes...during the moon landing my eyes were glued on the little monochrome tv screen, hoping to catch a glimpse of Godzilla, Mothra or similar!!!

I'm the guy who suggested to Telly2 that he come here. As you can see, I'm pretty new myself and am too young to have seen the Eagle land live. I do know the landings are real, though!

Welcome aboard! As a ten-year-old (almost eleven) at the time, I have similar memories and was proud of myself for years for staying up for the entire moonwalk (till about 1:30 am my local time).

First post, live west southwest of Salt Lake City, have 2 kids who are teens and a 3 year old beagle named Coda because, like in music, Coda means the end and he is the last pet we'll own (or so says my wife who has always had a pet since we married 21 years ago). I'm in education after having a 15 year business career in management. Love astronomy but it is one of several interests, the most important is spending time with the family. I'm into visual astronomy, planetary nebula, carbon stars, and the formation of open star clusters. Clear skies to each of you.

Welcome to BAUT, JLinUT. A coda may be the end of a piece... but there's always a next piece. Labradors are nice.

Hello! I'm a second-year university student, doing a Specialist in Astronomy and Physics. I've been pretty passionate about astronomy as far back as I can remember. I used to want to be an astronaut (and honestly, I would still give up a lot to get to walk on the Moon or orbit the Earth), but the excitement of discovery and research steered me towards the idea of being an astronomer, professionally. I love Universe Today (it's my homepage) and I listen to AstronomyCast.

Other than that, I'm a complete Sci-Fi addict; favourites include Star Trek, Star Wars, BSG, HG2G (from which I took my username), Firefly, Doctor Who, and the list goes on. I'm looking forward to chatting with you all!

Welcome Yoshikage Kira, what a lot of anime and manga fans there are all over the world! I like the sappy romance ones somewhat.
Hello Trillian, lots of like-minded folk hereabouts. I like the Astronomy Casts more than visual media on this subject.
