You'd be surprised how much space junk is out there. STS 101 was, I believe, the third shuttle trip to the International Space Station. So possibly it is a film from the station of the shuttle as it orbitted the earth on either its way to or from station (obviously not the docking orbit).

The best explanation I've heard was, "debris of unknown origin". There's just no way to tell exactly what it was, IMO.

No way, it is without doubt a "watcha-ma-callit."

I split the video into individual frames and processed them each in PhotoShop. I decreased contrast and increased brightness and zoomed to 1000%. Then I applied the JPEG Artifact Removal Tool and I am now absolutely certain that is a widget.

That's a picture of a photograph of a cliff, with a Quaalude capsule laying on top. I can't tell if it's the 300 mg or super-potent fun 450 mg version. The color is obscured by some unseen light source (should appear grey-green).
