The first person to use chemical weapons in war was German chemist and Nobel laureate Max Haber, who employed chlorine gas against Allied forces at the Second Battle of Ypres in 1915. His wife, in protest, shot herself at a dinner party. Scientists working under him later developed the insecticide Zyklon B, which was used with such brutal effectiveness by the Nazis. Long before this, however, Haber had been forced to flee his homeland forever, because he was Jewish.

It's gotten to the point where careful investigation is needed just to tell parody from reality. I think that means reality is broken.- Noclevername.

Actually no he didn't. He died in 1934 on a convalescent trip to Switzerland. About the only good thing you could say is that he didn't live long enough to see his invention used in the manner for which it would become infamous.

On a lighter note, the lyrics to "Happy Birthday to You" are held under copyright by Warner Music, and technically, performances of the song are illegal unless royalties are paid in advance.

Venus has a retrograde spin of 243 Earth days, with an orbit around Sol of 225 Earth days, making its day longer than its year!

The collective value of all types of frequent flyer miles in circulation exceeds that of any single currency.

No, I think that expression will suffice only if x is equal to 1, and y is equal to whatever. PS; Does the underscore in your expression hold a certain function?

you bet--it's a subscript operator.

the natural log of x times the natural log of y is most definitely equal to the log of y to the base 1/x.

From time to time, on Mercury, the sun travels backward in the sky a bit before resuming its forward motion.

Hugh Laurie's Myspace page has Ian Dury's "Hit Me With Your Rythm Stick" playing on it.

True, known for a while, but it is true that Alcohol inhibits the growth and replacement of rain cells. I forget which of the two types of brain matter that fact refers to....

The largest known living organism is called Pando; a forest of quaking aspens in Utah that formed from growth stems from a single root system. It covers 43 hectares, weighs 6 million kilos and is estimated to be anywhere from 80,000 to a million years old. It is male; however scientists believe it has not sucessfully reproduced in ten thousand years.
