The fact is .....every human being born so far has died. We are nearing a time (still several generations away in my estimation) when that will not happen or at least a portion of a human being's mind will be retained in some way.

We'll wait then, the operative word is "yet".......

August 1966 a disgruntled Assyrian-Iraqi pilot defected to Israel with a Mig fighter. The same fighter was later used to try and engage Egyptian Migs that the Israels thought were taking pictures of the nuclear site at Dimona.

No. It expresses the fact that you asked that question.

The ridge patterns of smokers’ fingerprints fluoresce, while those of nonsmokers do not.

Penthrite was first synthesized 1891 by Tollens and Wiegand by nitration of pentaerythritol. They tried it in cooking but found it made a better explosive.

Well then it comprises the fact of your question.

Nitrocellulose (aka "guncotton") was first used as a fiber for shirts that would not need ironing, before it was discovered to be unsafe near open flames.

In a related fact--a coworker in his college chemistry lab had a fellow student accidentally spill tincture of iodine on his shirt. The TA suggested using ammonia to get it out. It worked...sort of. While the shirt was hanging up to dry, the stained area exploded. (Amonium Iodide is a rather unstable explosive).

Contact lenses aren't lenses in the classic sense. They simply bend your eyes to correct your vision. In fact, there's at least one company that is attempting to make this pseudo-permanent - you wear the lenses while sleeping and then don't need any assistance the next day.

The Maine penny is a Norwegian silver penny dating to the reign of Olaf Kyrre. The coin is one of only a few pre-Columbian Norse artifacts found in the United States. It has been dated to 1065-1080 AD. It was the first archaeological confirmation that the Norse had visited the new world.

Not so! http://www.howitworks.net/how-contact-lenses-work.html

"The actual shape of your contact lenses is determined by the actual shape of your eye. Of course, they have to be uniform, if the lens is to stay in place. So the inner surface of the lens is fit to the shape of your eye. The outer surface of the lens is designed in much the same way as your eyeglasses would be, although on a smaller scale – to help you see better."

Not everyone can wear contact lenses. he shape of the surface of your eye may be unsuitable. Or, as my sister found out, your tears may be "of poor quality and greasy".

It sounded like quite the put down to me.

Aww, it does!

For short sightedness (which I am) & long sightedness, it's usually down to the muscles either being respectively, too strong or weak on the lens. These are acting sideways so pushing on the cornea ain't going to help much. I'm interested where this idea came from btw mr obvious. Not having a go, but just interested

'You Nexus huh? I design your eyes!'
'Chew, if only you could see what I've seen with your eyes'

However, hard contact lenses can change the shape of your cornea. This side effect isn't caused by the rigid shape of the lens, though - it's because traditional hard contacts don't allow oxygen to reach the cornea. It's also not a controlled reshaping can only harm your vision. This is much less of a problem with soft and rigid gas-permeable lenses.

In yesterday's New Hampshire Republican debates, Rudy Guliani's attempt to explain his pro-choice stance was disrupted when a lightning strike outside momentarily took out the sound.

Re:contact lens.

Hmm, that's what I was told, by a science teacher. Upon further research, I think I (he) may have erroneously generalized the "Orthokeratology Shaping Lens" into all contact lens. Sorry!

The last widow of a Confederate soldier, Alberta S. Martin died in May 2004. She was born in 1906 and married the former Confederate soldier William Martin who had been born in 1845 in 1927. When he died in 1931 she married his grandson.

The marriage was initially arranged to obtain and prepetuate the $50 dollar monthly pension. However Alberta did have one son with William.
