The human foetal heart beats at about 175 (+/-10) beats per minute in the 7th week after conception, that is in the 9th week after the mother's LNMP, (last normal menstrual period). It then gradually slows to about 145 BPM at birth.

The passengers of the Titanic did, in fact, sing the song "Eternal Father, Strong to Save" at church services aboard the ship as depicted in the film; however, the lyrics used in the movie version were written in 1940, 28 years after the sinking of the great ship.

Humans are born with 350 bones in their body, however when a person reaches adulthood they only have 206 bones. This occurs because many of them join together to make a single bone.

Chimpanzees and gorillas are more closely related to us than they are to orangutans.

Warner Chappel Music owns the copyright to the song "Happy Birthday." They make over $1 million in royalties every year from the commercial use of the song.

And having to pay a royalty fee is the reason most TV shows don't include it in a birthday episode.

The first computer programmer was Augusta Ada King, Countess of Lovelace, who in the early 1840s created a program for Charles Babbage's never-built Analytical Engine to calculate a sequence of Bernoulli numbers.
