Kirk never said, "Beam me up, Scotty", Friday never said, "Just the facts, ma'am", but Bones did say, "he's dead, Jim" regarding a red-shirter.

Razor blades have ended up in the human stomach. So have dog leashes and toothbrushes.

When Nancy Kulp ("Miss Jane Hathaway" of The Beverly Hillbillies) ran for a political seat in 1984, former TBH costar Buddy Ebsen campaigned for her rival. Ebsen said Kulp was "too liberal" and "didn't know the issues." Kulp lost by a significant margin as a result. She didn't speak to Ebsen for years after, but did make peace with him before her death.

Gnaeus Julius Agricola (AD 40-93), Roman governor of Britain, invaded Caledonia (Scotland) in AD 81. He defeated the Celtic tribes under their leader, Calgacus, at the battle of Mons Graupius (AD 83), in eastern Scotland.

Regarding 1940s screen idol Veronica Lake: During WWII, the rage for her peek-a-boo bangs became a hazard when women in the defense industry would get their bangs caught in machinery. Lake had to take a publicity picture in which she reacted painfully to her hair getting "caught" in a drill press in order to heighten public awareness about the hazard of her hairstyle.

The Pentagon building in Arlington, Virginia, has nearly 68,000 miles ( 110,000 km) of telephone lines, enough to go around the circumference of the earth almost three times.

Many areas in New England still display glacial striations from the last Ice Age.

In 1626 the Dutch brought Manhattan Island from the local Indians for a collection of trinkets that, legend has it, were worth around $25.

Marmoset mating habits and family structures are variable and can include monogamy, polygyny and occasionally polyandry.

Assuming a 2.5% annual inflation rate, the original cost of Manhattan Island ($25) today would be $300,022.46. Still cheap, but that's a LOT of beads.

Ethnologue lists about 7,330 main languages in its language name index (see the external link) and distinguishes about 39,491 alternate language names and dialects.

Despite being blond, Jayne Mansfield was a genius.

The Bay of Fundy has the world's highest tidal range with water's rising 20-50ft (5-15m) every high tide.

Ungava Bay in Northern Quebec, north eastern Canada, is believed by some experts to have higher tidal ranges than the Bay of Fundy (about 17 metres or 56 ft),

Note: "is believed by" is quite different than "has". Plus Fundy does that every tide, not just sporadically. When I wanted to see the world's highest tides on any given day, I went down east to the Bay of Fundy.

New England pegmatities contain many different minerals. For example, the Estes quarry in southwestern Maine exposes a granite pegmatite hosting more than forty mineral species.
