I just went to H&R Block's website. http://www.hrblock.com/
Is my mind in the gutter or is what I see intentionally suggestive? Things like this are amusing, sad, but amusing. If you know of one, please post a link. [Ok, I just had to edit this post. I'm a guy, I'm looking at my choices on that page and my natural choice is probably the most expensive one... anyone think that not only the wording but the selection of people images is intended to sway consumers?]

don't you just love these so-called "professionally" designed web pages? All I see is a big white box when I go to H&R Block's page--not a good way to get customers! It probably requires some third-party program like Flash. A silly way to run a website....

When I originally posted they had a guy with a caption, "do it yourself", another guy, "do it with me", and a woman, "let me do it for you". I should have done a screen capture/dump.

Yea... well, don't be too hard on yourself, that's the first thing that went through my mind when I saw it. Then I started wondering about the subtleties of the people used for each option. As a red blooded male I would find it a bit disturbing to make any selection but the third. I'd get over it, but I wonder how many people it actually influence, if any, and whether or not that type of advertising really works.

Is there such a thing as red blooded femal or is it a hot blooded female? or may be I just have a strange view of things and can see the funny/rude side!!!!
I dont think the advertiseing works imediatley, but if you wanted help with the tax you would remember the advert that makes you grin!!! So it does kind of work, and it brightens up your day!!!

I believe the intent of the advertising is to get you to make a choice on the spot. It is supposed to "hook" you. At least in the case of that website. I know other types of ads, like television commercials, are designed to stick something in your head with the intent of keeping it there. I would think that with a website you would want to think of it as packaging and take the same approach you would in designing the package for a product you'll put on a shelf.
