Default Not-so-random facts!

Post a neverending trivia thread, each new fact taking a cue from the fact above.

I'm taking the first cue from the random fact thread:

Cultivated in California, Italy, Turkey and Iran. The Pistachio nut is labeled as a hazardous material when transported in bulk. This due to the fact that it can spontaneously combust.

Humans, on the other hand, don't seem to actually spontaneously combust. Most documented cases were attributed to an external ignition source and the effect of clothes and skin fat acting as a wick.

The first electric ignition was invented by GM engineers Clyde Coleman and Charles Kettering. It was first used in a Cadillac in February 17, 1911. Up until then, the majority of cars relied on hand-cranking to start the engine.

The spark plug that is the heart of (almost) every gasoline engine's ignition system was first massproduced by Robert Bosch GmbH of Germany, laying the foundation for its success.

Rudolf Diesel, inventor of the diesel engine which does not need spark plugs, was also German, although he spent a lot of his life in France.

Marx Brothers were descended from German parents. They didn't invent humour. They effortlessly sparked, ignited, transmitted laughter for all of the world to share.

Humour comes from the ancient Greek idea that all moods were caused by imbalances in the four humours of the body: Blood, phlegm, yellow bile and black bile.
The attributes sanguine, phlegmatic, choleric and melancholic stem from the names of those fluids.

Groucho Marx once responded to an exclusive club's membership offer. He sent the club a wire stating, PLEASE ACCEPT MY RESIGNATION. I DON'T WANT TO BELONG TO ANY CLUB THAT WILL ACCEPT ME AS A MEMBER.
