Because they still have a product to sell. They're not dead. Yet.

QuackWatch: Q-Ray:

Quote:
In September 2006, the Chicago court sided with the FTC and ordered Que Te Park and his companies to turn over $22.5 million in net profits and provide up to $64.5 million more in refunds to consumers who had bought the bracelets [11]. During the trial, Park testified that he could not define the term "ionization" but picked it because it was simple and easy to remember. The court concluded that his testimony on ionization was "contradictory and full of obfuscation" and that "he is a clever marketer but a poor witness." Park also acknowledged that QT had at least a 25% refund rate from dissatisfied customers (more than 100,000 people) [12]. The FTC has set up a hotline number, 202-326-2063, for consumers with questions about the court’s opinion and order.

It does prove, however, that people will pay money for the placebo effect.

When I start my scam, do I have to use the next letter and call them R-Rays or can I use any letter?

Just call it the "Placebo Bracelet":

...a recent study conducted by the Mayo Clinic in Jacksonville, Fla., shows that the Q-Ray Bracelet is no more effective than a placebo bracelet at relieving muscular and joint pain...(from the OT link)

You might want to avoid N-Rays. That was an infamous irreproducible result from the early 20th century.

And alpha, beta, gamma and X are already in use. Though if one wanted to emulate Mr. Park's use of "ionization" one could re-use one of them and have it mean somethng else.

And considering their home attendence, no one is interested in the D-Rays.

I've decided on Chuck-Rays. Don't expect to see it on the market, though. If I get enough investors I'll be changing my name and retiring.
