One does not have to go back thousands of years to be impressed with how things were done then vs now. In fact, 50 years will do just fine!

Compare 21st century hardtop convertibles with their computers and servos with a late 50s Ford Skyliner with hydraulic actuators and mechanical limit switches!

How could they build a car without a computer!?! Did they have dinosaurs pull it?

No! They died out much earlier. Certainly before WWI.

There are cars made in the same way as the 50s, even the 30s. Morgan still produce cars with wooden body framing and hand made panels. Bristol still use the production tools that they usewd to build Fighter Bombers in WW2.

But some earlier, steeper pyramids did.

Do BSAs and Triumphs still leak oil?

BSA hasn't existed for years. Triumphs are up there with anything the Japanese build. They are not the same company that went out of business in the 80s, they are a whole new concern that purchased the brand names etc.

You can still buy Royal Enfields, they are made in India, they have slightly updated electrics butr they ar eessentialy the same 1950s design which itself has an engine that dates back to the 40s. (that's what killed the British bike industry)

captain swoop,
Pardon my sad attempt at humor.

And almost did in the British auto industry as well.
Don't get me wrong. I'm not bashing the British auto workers! The U.S. auto industry is finding ways to destroy itself while rewarding those at the top.
