My opinion is that they need to be studied further with better tech.
What better tech do you have in mind? How would you fund it?

You endorsed a criticism about SETI which appears to have been based on ignorance. Do you still endorse it or not?

All I'm saying is that as technology advances and more sensitive detection methods arise, we should continue looking for macroengineering projects/artifacts.

Sorry, which criticism specifically did I endorse?

And how does it "appear (to be ) based on ignorance?"

Has SETI Been Barking Up the Wrong Tree? (Mostly) echoes my sentiments.

Because it berates SETI people for not taking Dyson Spheres seriously, apparently unaware of past efforts to search for them.

Effort.
VanRijn's article is the first and only I've seen regarding any systematic search for macroengineering artifacts.
Do you know of others? And if so, did they too turn up some "mysteries?"

Their item on the Dysonian approach is but one of six criticisms.
They may well have been ignorant of the effort to search for them, but I don't think that negates their point, or refutes their arguments in their entirety.

Do you also disagree with their other points?

I haven't reread the whole thing, but doing so is not a very high priority for me right now.

Critics need to know their targets or they lose their credibility.

Which, I suppose, means that it has to be Dyson spheres created by alien civilizations.

And I'm sure that absolutely no scientists would be interested in pointing their telescopes at anything in the sky that has a mysterious IR signature, because they might just prove that SETI's approach is the wrong way to go...

Certainly, and I think Cirkovic knows his target: SETI.
Thereto, he's not just a critic of SETI but an advocate as well.

Credibility is a judgment call.

Did someone say such a thing?

Or do you make this supposition so as to springboard into sarcasm?
