Goodness me! I have not seen so much agreement here. Since we all seem to be saying the same thing. Knowledge is attained be the process of education. Atchievment of this can be attianed by reading and researching the works of others. Or you can blunder on for your self burning your fingers... Its all education and with knowledge comes power.

The evolution of the knowledge is the quest we all are involved in.

Just look at how far we have come. To describe humanities progress as steps of ignorance is foolish. We are equipping ourselves for the future. We have no idea what that might be., but the guessing is fun.

So can we safely say that what sets us apart from other species here on earth is the fact that we can educate our selves and pass this knowledge on to the next generation by communication, language and recorded data, who then can educate themselves further and so on at a rate that is un-surpassed.

I agree but, many animal species teach and learn.. So no that's not the defining point of difference is it. Your point, Spoken and written might be the key.
That link from post 1. should be compulsory in all education curriculum. Its not. Can we fix this ?
