Our Math teachers give completion grades because none of us ever get it right, same with English, other teachers check if it's right most of the time.

Emphasis mine.
Wouldn't that include things like, uh... spelling?

Every year's a bludge until year 11... you could do no homework, study or even listen in class right up until about the last term of year 10 (I know I didn't).

Then year 11 you just have a constant stream of assignments and with the subjects you're taking, it looks like you're in for a rough year.

By the way, what's Earth Science? I don't think we have that choice...

I think it is more of a Physical Science that deals with earthly processes and cycles...but he could tell you better then I can, it isn't a choice for me either...

where I come from (see: blast from the past), Earth Sciences was a Euphemism for "why you should be an environmentalist fanatic"

We did an similar elective subject in year 10 called "Earth and beyond," although it was more meteorology than geology. Can't say it was the most enjoyable class I've ever taken, but it was an easy A. :P

New users may download Paltalk here.

To locate the chatroom:
  • Click on the Chat Rooms icon
  • Select the Social Issues category
  • Join the room labeled Bad Astronomy Chat
  • Or, using the Search box at the top of the Chat Rooms list, enter the phrase Bad Astronomy.
**Edited to add: the new Beta version of Paltalk has revamped all of the room categories, so I've moved the group from Meet New Friends back to its original location, Social Issues (on the new Beta version, Meet New Friends has become "Friends, Love, and Romance" -- bleh!).

Those on the Beta version can locate the group in the main category Social Issues & Politics; sub-category: Other.

If you have difficulty with any of the above, feel free to contact me via e-mail or PM. On Paltalk, my username is ll Wolverine ll (case-sensitive).
The post mickal555 quoted here is slightly dated; above is the newest info.

I'll have the room open when NASA TV coverage of New Horizons goes live. That's currently slated for 11:00 EST (16:00 GMT).

Hopefully you won't be staying up late for naught.

Just saw this:

Quote:
Weather officials said Sunday that there is an 80 percent chance of favorable flight conditions above New Horizons’ Cape Canaveral launch site, though they will be watching for high winds.

“We are expecting winds in the lower 20 (knots) and mid-20s, and possibly gusts up to 30 knots,” said Joel Tumbiolo, the mission’s launch weather officer from the 45th Weather Squadron at the Air Force Station, during a preflight briefing. “All of those are below the threshold for our flight.”

He'd stated earlier that he doesn't have Paltalk installed anymore. Maybe we'll have to twist his arm.

Hey I had to install it on my "clean" machine, I don't see why he shouldn't join the bandwagon.
