Yah.. I just thought the name sounded cool.
When I first saw your name I thought it would be a cool name for a band. Too late, though, it's already taken!

Thanks for shaking the hoarfrost off that one, AGN Fuel, I missed it the first time.

Archer=Sagittarius. I'm thinking of changing my name to Steve (for obvious reasons). When I joined 5/03 there already was a Steve but he never posts and might've been extracted by now. If I switch I'll let y'all know .. I'm getting tired of "Archer" to be honest with younz (some Pittsburghese tossed in for good measure)

Sigh - all the good ones are urban myths, huh.....still, it made me laugh!

I'm glad you think this is humorous. However, R B Jones was in my company in Boot Camp. This may actually be the origin of the “urban myth”. That was in 1967 in San Diego, California.

There are still good ones out there. I just emailed my friend. Hopefully, she will be able to jump onboard. She's married to my cousin and the Mommy of the Year. Now, be gentle with her when she comes aboard. Cross your fingers that she registers, cause she is really busy. She is one of the funniest people I have ever met, besides her Dad.

Snopes traces it back to 1958. (Scroll way down.)

Well, remaining cryptic, here's a hint. 2.980 GeV/c^2.

My favorite of all those urban legend names is LemonJello (le-MON-jah-lo).
I can just SEE some little kid running around with that name! I hope it's true. Too funny not to be. Same with Ronly Bonly. I guess if they're not, I could make it so when I start having kids!

I said pre-gothic. Remember, this was the mid 80's. My Generation X started so much of what you see and hear now. How soon the kids forget. Candy in the mid 80's: Black hair, white face, purple lips and eye shadow to match, black finger nails, and black clothes. I was told I scared people. My favorite movie at that time was Lost Boys. My favorite group was Ratt. MTV was so new, that it played the same FIVE music video's over and over. Ah, good times.

Ding, give the man a cigar. Acutally it has zero net charm being the pseudoscalar (spin 0, negative parity, positive charge conjugation) state of the charm/anti charm system. It's the lesser known cousin of the J/Psi (3096 GeV/c^2). That's the spin 1 state of c/c-bar. Anyway, the eta c played a major role in my dissertation, so it seemed appropriate.

Right, zero net charm. Whoops. (Must... Remember... Physics... Stuff... #-o )

I don't smoke, though, so please, no cigar. :P

Patrator is latin for "An achiever/accomplisher". I used it as the title of my Curriculum Vitae (Resume) a couple of years ago. Not one single employer asked me about it. I doubt some even noticed it in big, bold letters on the front page.
I'm currently self-employed and doing quite well, so I've no need for a CV but it's such a rarely used word, I've sort of adopted it as a user name/email on various sites. It means I don't have to add a number on the end of it.

Default Name origins..

Well, my handle is fairly explanatory.

a_lost_packet_

All data on the internet is transmitted in "packets." Sometimes these, inadvertently, never make it to their destination. If it wasn't for a packet's "halflife" they'd be popping around different routers forever.

I'm just one of those packets that pops up on a random hit every once-in-awhile. I might have something to say.. I might not. But, in either case, I'm usually "lost." Hopefully, my expiration date is forged and I'll live forever.

For more info on "packets" http://grc.com/dos/PacketRouting.htm

Since the other Steve is obviously gone, maybe the BA will allow you to be the Steve. Have you asked him? He seems like a man with a good head on his shoulders. I bet he would and could make it happen.

Argos(*) is a Greek monster with a hundred eyes. It sees everything. I thought it was suited for an informatiomnivore like me.

(*) Argos Panoptes => Pan = all ; optes = eye. There are several Arguses in Greek mythology.
