Default Zombie speculation

Rented the Dawn of the Dead remake over the weekend. I also saw it at the theatre when it originally came out. Does anyone think that there could have been survivors? How long does a zombie "live" for? Was the virus a biological attack, from space or something else altogether?

The origional "Night of the Living Dead" (the prequel to the original "Dawn of the Dead") hinted that the "Virus" was on a prob brought back from Venus.

As far as other survivors, they are talking about making a part 2 (a sequel to the Dawn remake and not a remake of "Day of the Dead"). So, if that's the case I would assume there would be more survivors. Otherwise it would be a boring movie just watching zombies walk around.

I did notice some good science in the remake though. In most movies when they want to blow something up they will shoot a tank full of gas and it explodes...in the remake of Dawn, they attached a lit flare to the tank and then shot it to release the gas causing it to explode. I was suprised to see some good science in of all places a zombie movie.

Yeah, it was part of a film project that never materialized. Though some of the forum members are "openminded to the idea of vampires and zombies" and then there is the fellow who claims he is part of a goverment anti-zombie/vampire task force.
I find the interactive cases most intriguing.

I opened the link to them, but I didn't go through them much. But I definitly will go through it some more later. It seems like there's some cool stuff there.

Also, since we're on the subject, I don't think it's been mentioned here yet (not sure if there's many horror movie fans here or not) but George Romero has been greenlit for his fourth installment of the Dead series called Land of the Dead. It's pretty big news considering his last Dead film was nearly 20 years ago, and fans have been begging for a new Dead film for a long time.
