Default Cat with thumbs!

Below is a webpage that I made today about a calico cat I named Doorstop that adopted our family. What is unusual about Doorstop is that she has thumbs. Check it out below.

Interesting. So if a cat has a thumb does it not have that one inner claw as a compromise?
*hopes people get what she's referring to*

I think Andromeda means dewclaws.

Are the "thumbs" really like extended dewclaws?

So, in three millions years we'll have a species of well dressed, hyperactive, cat people.

My friend has a cat like that--with an extra toe, though her cat is a cream colored cat.

Nice cat Kizarvexis!
My sister once had a cat with an extra toe, she called it Randy, though I don't think it particularly was ;-)

One time after seeing a racoon, I imagined what it would be like if my cat had "hands" like that. After the shudders stopped, I vowed never to think of it again. Thanks SO much for making me think of it again ... ](*,)

Extra digits aren't really all that unusual in cats. When I worked in a veterinary clinic it wasn't unheard of to see cats with two extra toes on each foot--looked like the cats were wearing snowshoes.

Hyperactive! You apparently aren't familiar with cats.

I remember one cartoon, titled "If cats ruled the Earth", a cat is at a restaurant lunch counter, banging on the counter going "Can I get some service" while the cook cat and the waitress cat are curled up asleep.

Or how about Cat from Red Dwarf. At least he was a snappy dresser!

We once visited a friend's home while he was looking after his in-laws' cat. On each front foot it had about 4 extra toes, located in a cluster where Doorstop has his "thumbs". The hind feet had seven and six toes, if I recall. (Normally only four in back.)

It was a particularly mellow cat, too. Sat on my lap and purred for about half an hour while I played with its feet and counted toes.

Maybe it's some kind of super cat. What if there's more supercats up at that lab? WHAT IF THEY'RE CREATING AN ARMY OF THEM? It must be a conspiracy like in the X-Files... ROSWELL style. This little cat could be the dirty cat responsible for the fall of the human race. And after the fall of man, these cats will start wearing our clothes and rebuilding the world in their image. I'll say. We have a prominently-thumbed, six-toed, Siamese-Tabby mix that usually borders on comatose. Another distinctive characteristic is a snaggle tooth that pushes his lip upward, giving him a perpetual sneer. Besides making him look somewhat like a squinty Elvis, it also causes him to drool, most especially when he's getting a good head rubbing.

Our current cat has got the normal amount of toes (I think). When she wants something she is very lively and loud (food and attention, and "requests" (ahum) to open doors), but most of the time she is just sleeping during the day. I know that this is very normal for cats (she goes hunting at night), but this one is just soooooooo lazy in the day, never had a cat like that. Somenone can come in and stay for several hours without ever seeing her move if he missed the two-hour turn .
