Default Baby, it's cold outside!

We had our first sub-zero( Fahrenheit ) dip of the thermometer last night, but Mother Nature made up for it this morning with a beautiful display of sundogs. The sky was crystal clear and the sundogs were very bright. They made the drive into work a little hazardous though.

Unfortunately, it was pretty overcast this morning. There was a break somewhere near the rising sun, though, because I could see red in the east, but no sundogs.

Driving to work was hazardous anyway, thanks to the freezing rain on the windshields and road!

When I went to bed last night it was -11 F. When I got up it had warmed up to -8, so I guess things are improving. Except for the winter storm warning they posted for today. Hey, it's December. I can live with it.

After some foggy weeks, we had a little storm and now the skies here are clear, too. Nice display of Jupiter and Venus this morning. And while I looked around, a bright star rose in the west and yes, it was the ISS.

And we had -5 degrees - but Celsius :-)

The Cleveland area was a balmy 10F this morning, with windchills below zero.
But look at the bright side - no mosquitoes! #-o

I guess you don't mean Cleveland ans in the bit at the top of North Yorkshire on Teesside?

It's was about -6 (C) overnight and the outside temp on the way to work this AM was -2 according to the thermometer reading on my dashboard.

We're freezing our butts off here in Tampa, FL. It's 49 F currently and was around 32 at sunrise. These deep, dark winter blizzards are the worst. I can't wait for it to get back up to the normal 60-70 degrees again. 8)

In the teens here in the DC area. After last night's precipitation, my car door was stuck - I had to go back to the house, fill a bottle with hot water, and squirt it around the door just to get it open. Then I still had to scrape the windshield, and to do that I had to wait for the car to warm up a bit because the stuff was too hard and cold to scrape off at first.

I got in to work a little late today.

It got up to 9C last night. Currenty 3, with an expected high of 6 today.

It's good to be home.

I'll be heading down there the first part of March for a sailing regatta (well, St. Pete to be precise). Hope to hell it warms up before then!!

I had to scratch a layer of ice from my bike's sadle this morning. Makes for a cold and hard seat...

It was something like -4°C this morning, I guess. (observe the use of an azerty keyboard, which has the ° sign standard on it 8) ).

2 years ago I had to launch water powered rockets at -15°C. When quick enough, they launched perfectly. That outperforms the Space Shuttle!!

A lot of people are complaining about the chilly 70-75 degrees we have here right now. 8)

Within a few weeks it could go as low as 60! 8-[

No the bright side is I escaped Cleveland last week and if I was still there I'd be walking a mile to class in that cold! God help me in January...
While I was driving back from a holiday party the thermometer read 6F around 1030. Had trouble falling asleep last night as well because of the cold. :-?

I slept with my window open. I'm so happy. So incredibly happy. I got out of Ontario just as the cold snap hit. I've only seen snow for 40 minutes this year -- 20 of them while on a train, and 20 while in a cab in Ottawa on my way to the airport.

Not bad here, just 3-5 cm of snow and only slightly below freezing. Not even bad enough for the 4-wheel drives to go into the ditch (a regular occurrance with overconfident 4WD drivers...) :-?

I came home from Ithaca, NY last week where the current temperature is 1 degree. Needless to say Florida is significantly warmer. 8)

Here are some nice sundogs over Moose Pond in New Hampshire. Either that or it's PX with its evil twin. Plus what appears to be a chemtrail!

I wonder if ZaphodBeeblebrox is familiar with this spot?

Meh. I've gotten to the point where I don't mind the cold. Hot is nice, but nothing beats a cold day and a warm fire.

Gee, and I was out in my t-shirt here in the supposed grey rainy NW.

-35F is the coldest weather I've been in. Oil was too thick in everyone's car that didn't plug in their engine heaters too start. Simply amazing how cold real cold is.
