Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to All BABBers.
And particularly to our host, The Bad Astronomer Disclaimer The preceeding statement does not necessarily reflect on the beliefs of anyone on the Bad Astronomy Bulletin Board other than the author of this post, who will give his best wishes to anybody he (deleted) well pleases with the understanding that the recipient accepts the positive spirit - if not religious associations - of those wishes with good graces, regardless of the recipients' personal belief system.

If you really want to impress people with your knowledge about international ways to say Merry Christmas you can go to
http://www.ldynwaitin.hispeed.com/ch...slanguages.htm Glædelig Jul. That is the Danish version, though like TrAI (Norway) we can also say God Jul.

. There is a slight difference between the two, of course, "god" means "good" while I would translate "gledelig" to "joyful" or "delightful". "Jul" is, as one probably can guess, translatable to "Yule". I would say the phrase "ha en god jul og et godt nytt år"(word for word it would translate as "have a good Yule and a good new year") is the most common way to wish someone a merry Christmas and a happy new year here in Norway.

Merry Christmas to all and thanks for making me feel welcome over the last year.
Just remember that while most of you will be snuggling up in winter woollens, warming yourself with pudding & brandy, and cuddling up (or stealing kisses!) from that someone special, I'll be sweltering away down here hoping I don't have to touch too many people and that the cold beer doesn't run out! Enjoy! edited to add - Oh yes, I'll be enjoying Christmas before most of you (except those pesky Kiwis!) so I'll have a drink for you all to boot!

We may have a gray Christmas this year. The temperatures are supposed to drop to near or below freezing, and we may get sleet for Christmas--yes you read that, sleet not snow. Though for the people living to the North of Houston may actually get what we call snow (less than 1/4 inch) which of course is nothing to those of you living further North

Hey, at least you don't need to clear off your driveway. I broke two good shovels on the stuff a week or two ago. Took forever, too.

Merry Christmas to all, we decimated the turkey and drunk the wine, so now it's time to find a dull film on t.v. and sleep it off untill round two!
