Default Da Vinci workshop discovered in Italy

Sounds unbelievable, but it's not April 1, not from Pravda and with all the mess the Italians usually have... :-)

I have read about this last wek in the newspaper. It's amazing, but don't gete too excited. The frescoes are apparently not from Da Vinci but from a 'minor' Italian painter from the period (I've forgotten his name). Still a great discovery, and who knows what will come out of it further, but the short quote could give a wrong impression.
Now if they would only excavate the library at Herculanaeum...

They can not find a whole workshop in 500 years, but they 'immediately' (or ver ysoon at least) know where to find the 'secret' room in it? Bizarre...

No someone knew about it:

Frescos adorning part of the workshop were left undisturbed over the centuries and gradually forgotten. The wing of the convent was eventually split by a wall and is partially claimed today by the Institute of Military Geography.
They just never thought, hey those frescos look like da Vinchi's. Gee i wonder if this is his lost workshop

Maybe the 'institute of military geography' doesn't have an artistic imagination.

I had a look at the link.
Where does it mention that they replace bits of maps?

I expect them to take possible military targets off the maps they sell to the public. They are a military institute after all.
I just could not find any mention of it on the web-site you linked to.
If you found pictures of kitten, feel free to link to them.
