Being a kid has nothing to do with it. I'm 28 and I like Rage Against the Machine, and Papa Roach. I also like

Trapt
Linkin Park
Three Days Grace
POD
Lost Prophets
Treble Charger
Sum 41
Blink 182
and one of my all time favorites Breaking Benjamine.

People are usually suprised that I listen to modern rock and not stuff from my time period. I guess I just grow with the times.

What are your favorite songs of Rage, Roach, POD, and Sum 41 SKY?

POD = Youth of the nation or Boom
Sum 41 = Fat lip

I hope nothing comes up over Youth of the nation again, also, BOOM has nothing to do with weapons.

Don't talk about that sentense.

Hmm... favorite song right now would be Under my Thumb by the Rolling Stones, or Homeward Bound by Simon and Garfunkel.

There are way too many bands that I like..., mostly rock and roll/oldies/classical. I'm one of the very few that isn't into the recent rap/hip-hop craze.

I agree. The metal without a beat is even worse, it is just screaming.

She's mostly into Mariachi, and 80's music. She doesn't adapt to well with current music. But there is a few modern ones she likes:

Evanescence (which I like too)
[shudder] J-Lo [/shudder] (we conflict heavy on this one)

I've even caught here singing to Three Days Grace and another of my favorites Hot Action Cop (yup, that was a wierd one). She's also a die hard Selena Fan

Okay, can you with-it guys suggest some stuff that this hopelessly-stuck-in-the-past 41 year old might like?

The most up-to-date stuff I like includes The Verve, Pulp and the like.

I'm more likely to listen to 70s and 80s stuff, including (in no meaningful order):

Genesis (during or very soon after PeterGabriel's era)
Gary Numan
Tangerine Dream
Magazine
Joy Division
Ultravox (during or very soon after John Foxx's era)
Blondie
The Cure
Cocteau Twins

If you know any of these artists, you might know something more up to date that I could try.

Just before Christmas I asked for music advice from a 20 year old working in a pub that played up to date stuff. He said, "I dunno, I listen to Joy Division and early 80s stuff."

You might enjoy some Franz Ferdinand which has a slightly "1981" production value, though not as many keyboards as most artists from that era.

Hot Hot Heat also have a sort of "new wave" sound reminicent of some early Cure (try the Make Up The Breakdown album). It's not like they are a direct copy of The Cure by any means, but there are elements there.

Franz Ferdinand does have a very cool sound, I'd definitely recommend them. My favorites right now would have to be:

- Music from Moulin Rouge (Yes, strange movie, great music.)
- Gladiator Soundtrack
- Pirates of the Caribbean Soundtrack (This was actually my marching band's show music last year!)
- Anything by The Jackson Five / Jackson himself.

I like most of those as well (certainly Pulp!). Newer ones, apart from the very good Franz Ferdinand: I guess you might like Interpol as well (rather new-waveish).

I like Mike Oldfield, the Divine Comedy, Hooverphonic, and loads of other bands and music. Other genres and periods as well, but those three the most! Other ones that I think of now: David Sylvian, Wim Mertens, Tori Amos, ...

I can't recommend any MODERN Rock for a 41 year old cept maybe Sum 41 (kidding) Mainly because it's hard for people over 35 to adapt to Rockin Music.

The Cure have a recent new album. Blondie released one in 98. (Debbie Harry is still stunning. Either that, or it's the lighting.)

More recently, let's see... Kylie Minogue has been putting out some surprisingly well crafted dance music. Nice videos, too.
And I like Megalomaniac by Incubus, although I know precious little else by them.
One more: A Funk Odyssey, by Jamiroquai (2001).
Speaking of which, Mike Oldfield realeased an interesting Songs of Distant Earth album, a few more years ago.

My favorite (stil existant) jazz/funk band is probably the Crusaders, since they tend to keep the techno/fusion garbage to a minimum.

Then there's John Coltrane and Miles Davis. I listen to their music a lot.

I don't think there's any classical or baroque music I don't like...

Oh, and LAGQ rocks.

Currently, I have A Classic Case: The London Symphony Orchestra plays the music of Jethro Tull playing.

I listen to a wide variety of music, but I tend to stay away from rap, techno, hip-hop, country, and metal. Also, anything that's defined strictly as Pop music needs to be thrown in a furnace and burned.

Here's the short list:

The Flaming Lips
Mercury Rev
U2
Soul Coughing
Modest Mouse
Beck
Hum
Radiohead
Tom Petty
David Gray
