Nice pics! =D> Is that at the Toulouse factory (I see other factory planes and pre-paint airframes), are it CGI (doesn't look like it) or has the plane flown?

It appears to be the Toulouse factory. Any info on when it will fly?

When looking at the A380, it has (relatively) small winglets.

btw you could have posted this in the A380 thread

It's supposed to fly by the end of the month.

I really want to fly on the upper deck.

No you don't. You really want to fly in the pilot's seat Glom. Admit it .

Thanks for the info on the flying date.

Do you think they'll go to Everett to do the wet runway tests?

You're avoiding the issue.

Is Everett the closest place where they are equiped to do such tests?
I'm not into "common wet runway test areas" .

Could be worse. You should see what babelfish does with a Korean to English translation - some of it comes out....well, interesting.

Well, you did translate "the right stuff" as "the substance on the right side"

An expression like "the right stuff" shouldn't be translated literally .

Don't ask me a french expression for "the right stuff" however, other than "ce qu'il faut". ("what is needed")

I told you it's been years since French class. I gave up re-learning French after I left Nordam. At Nordam I had to work with our French customer (Dassault). Here, I have to work with the Brits, Kiwi's, and South Koreans.

Don't worry. Your English is better than mine . And my French isn't that good to say the least.

So Glom, have you decided yet which deck you'd really prefer to fly in? (see around post #4)

It still is a 2 pilot cockpit .

But you can't sit as close to each other in the cockpit of course -which is needed for your fear of flying, right? . But you shouldn't worry in the A380: in a plane that size, it is more correct to state that the earth crashed onto the plane in case of a mishap .

I'm not scared of flying, especially, if I'm sitting on Glom's lap. :P

It's a bit like not noticing that mosquito when a lion is attacking you?

On topic: have they passed milestone 10 (full systems and engine run-up) yet?

Whoa....did I get that right? You work for an airline but you're afraid of flying?

I guess I'll never be able to take you for a plane ride.

You would have liked my last cross-country flight - TUL to SJU (in a single engine plane).

When in the world did I give the impression that I was scared of flying? :-?

Sure, I got scared when I was flying from ORD-SEA on an Airbus. That was due to the cargo shifting around down below.

Mea culpa. I must have mis-read the thread.

Now if you want to hear about freight shifting around, you should have been on the Caravelle the first night I flew as loadmaster...freight has a tendency to try to accumulate at the back of the plane during takeoff when it's not tied down.

You would. I too have found myself in the swamps of analyzing that word during dull lectures...

Candy: I think you gave the impression of having fear of flying with the story of the cargo you could hear in that airbus, an with your tory about being nervous on your first flight (that was you, right?).

Does United fly Airbus yet? 8-[

first engine run up: engine#3. When you start your lawnmower, you see some white smoke which disappears after a while. This is a modest extrapolation .

Look at that ini-mini van behind it . Or that bird above it.
Is it just me or are the engine axis not parallel? Probably they will get more parallel in flight due to wing twist.

Preparing the plane, engine doors open.

How did they make such a behemoth so beautiful?

All images come from www.airliners.net.
All these images copyright French Froq Airslides,
except photo#1 copyright Gustavo Betrán - Iberian Spotters.

Looking at these pictures, isn't it a pity that such a plane is built just to test, and will never be used to carry passengers? Just the amount of material. (I know it is needed for verifictation, safety etc -don't tell me ).

Thanks for the info on the A320. I was just wondering. That wasn't really clear from the way I formulated my question though . I meant "Does United currently fly Airbus?".

BTW the only aircraft related Google add is "fly the Boeing 747-200". Boeing is taking it just too far in attacking Airbus
