Default Kick Out the Jams (question...)

Who originally made the song "Kick out the jams"? I listened to both on radioblog and I like Rage's KotJ best.

Just answer my question then listen to "Rage Against the Machine - Kick Out The Jams" below:

It's pretty cool but I wanna know who the original is.

A group out of Detroit called MC5 (for Motor City 5) recorded it in 1968. (I think that's the correct date.) The original recording started off with the exclamation "Kick out the jams, *****", there was an edited version that replaced the unprintable word with "brothers and sisters".

Edited to add: Hooray! My 1300th post!

Still is. I deliberately avoided giving any of it, not even a count of letters, in order to stay within the standards of this board.

I still have the album. It was a fold out cover package, with a picture of the band spread across the whole inside surface. There was a paragraph about how the band lives togethre, eats together, plays together, and ***** together. That was also removed from the cover at the same time as the cover was considered obscene as well, so they were hassling the record stores that sold it. It was a big flap at the time. Now it would pale against a lot of rap music.

I still have it, haven't listened to it in thirty some years, but I still have it. HArdly worn.
