I missed it GG. Had to go to the Guadalupe County Fair. What did I miss?
I missed the first thirty minutes of it but I'm guessing nothing much happened during that time because I was able to catch on. In a nutshell, it was just continuing from where it left off last season (Jonathan Archer was in a Nazi tent with a red-eyed alien). To find more about last night's episode, check out startrek.com.

How was the fair?

The fair was fun. We got to pet the baby farm animals and see the hay judging. One heifer was so pretty. She looked like she was covered in black velvet. We watched the band play for awhile. Missed the rodeo though. I love the bullriding and team roping. My kids rode every carnival ride everal times. I'm waiting for Monday so I can see how well our students did in the stock show.

I saw the Enterprise season opener, and it was very watchable. Although, I think Porthos is getting younger. Must have something to do with the time travel thing.

You guys in the States are lucky - you get to see the series as soon as they come out, over here we have to wait months - at least! - before we get to see them!

Yes Spacemad, but you get to use the metric system every day, and have intelligent discussions about culture and art, and eat sensibly. Sometimes instant gratification isn't all it's cracked up to be.

Here in the U.K. the Metric System is still little used, Tom. Although many things are measured in the M.S few people have a true notion of what they are. They still use the old Imperial measurements - petrol/gas is sold by the Litre & the Gallon but most people still ask for X gallons. Fabric & wood (for example) are sold by the foot (12 inches/300mm) or milimetres, (which is very difficult for people to "visualise" in their minds, the numbers are so big) but still most people ask for them by the foot!

My wife works on the Deli(catessen) counter of a local supermarket chain & people often ask her for 100 grs. of a product but when they see how much it is they feel embarrassed & ask for more because itīs not nearly the amount they thought it was!

The dual system of weights & measures being in Imperial & Metric just doesnīt work - itīs been in force for over 25 years - but people still prefer the old, well known system!

As for the other points you mention I think you must live in another world because they donīt describe the British public in general - there are exceptions of course! (Fortunately!)

Still we would like to see the Star Trek series a lot sooner than we do at present! I havenīt even seen the series announced yet for the autumn/winter programmation! So I donīt know if we will be seeing it at all this year!

Spacemad,

Sorry to hear all that. Sounds like the US and the UK are being just plain stubborn. Too Bad. Thank goodness you appreciate culture! You demonstrate that so much, I just assumed it was because of your environment. Guess it's just You!

Enterprise into its 4th season?!?! I didnīt know there had been more than 2!!! Weīve seen the 1st season here in GB but the 2nd hasnīt even been annouced as yet!!

Iīve been on the web the last couple of weeks & have been downloading Stargate Atlantis. It was a trail but of the 4 I have downloaded only one was "viewable" & then only on the computer, I wasnīt able to see it on my DVD player!

I was going to try downloading some Star Trek episodes but if I canīt see them ....

Thanks, Tinaa for clearing up that point! I was fairly sure there were only two seasons, so ChomeStar's assertion of there being four came as a real surprise to me!

I must admit Spacemad that the first season FELT like three years! I dot really tired of the Enterprise chasing the Xindi. I aleady sick of the present story too. I am kind of disappointed with the show. Love the characters, hate the plot.

Star Trek: Enterprise is currently in its fourth season.

Try startrek.com for the episode listing, including episode summaries.

You do have one advantage over us though -- you get the new Battlestar Galactica now, whereas North America has to wait until January. (Good thing Bit Torrent is available!)

Hmm...no wonder the first season seemed like three, it was.
