I recently read something about plans for another Star Trek movie, more specifically, a movie about the Earth-Romulan War. Now, for all those who don't know ALOT about Star Trek, the following might seem a bit confusing.

The "talk on the internet" is that the movie will focus on the 4 year Earth-Romulan war that took place btween 2156 and 2160, that's only 2 more years into the future from Star Trek: Enterprise which is currently set in 2154, and only one year after the war ends in 2161, the United Federation of Planets would founded according to the Star Trek Encyclopedia. There seems to also be some preperation for this by some Star Trek websites that are now creating non-offical Romulan Starship Designs that they hope might be used in the movie that hasn't even been confirmed yet, here's one of them: Non-Offical Romulan Ships. Go to the "Earth-Romulan War Romulan Starship Classes" Section to see the designs and some pretty detailed descriptions of the Romulan Starships. Do you know anything concerning another movie?

Seems like a four-year war is a tough thing to do as a single movie. I wonder if they'll try and make a mini-series, or a three-film saga like LoTR. Alternatively, it might make one HECK of a high-end computer game.

Hmmm, D'ya get the feeling that Archer and his crew might be involved?

I don't think so. Even though NX-01 was nearly attacked by a Romulan Starship in "Minefield", according to the Star Trek Encyclopedia, *official* first contact between Earth and the Romulan Empire did not take place until early 2156. Here's a exert from the encyclopedia:

Quote:
First Contact: Earth/Romulan Star Empire

In Early 2156, the Earth Starship Dauntless NX-04, on a mission of deep space exploration, came upon two Earth-like worlds after unwittingly traveling for two months deep into Romulan Space. Though the ship's sensors had been picking up traces of warp signatures of an unknown kind for roughly *two months*, the two planets were so lush and undisturbed, that they dismissed any real possibility of a warp-capable civilization near them, they named the planets Romulus and Remus, after the mythical founders of Roman civilization on Earth. Roughly 1 light-year out of the system, and heading towards the two planets at high warp, the Dauntless was confronted with an fleet of unknown Starships. Despite attemps the captain made to make first contact peaceful, the vessels bombarded the Dauntless with a volly of Nuclear tipped torpedos, the ship was destroyed instantly. This, along with other unprovoked attacks by the Romulans, started the 4 year Earth-Romulan war later that year.
Though I don't like to make assumptions, I don't think a 5 year old, heaviley worn-down Enterprise would be fit to fight a war with the Romulans, especially with a Vulcan first officer on board.

If they're smart, there won't be an Enterprise in it. I hope they borrow from that episode of the first series when whats-his-name who came back later as Spock's father, piloted a 'bird of prey', but dumbed down like the current first Enterprise is supposed to be in the present TV series. I would almost picture it as a WWI sub in comparative technologies. If they get too fancy it would mess up the Star Trek franchise continuity.

Or at least in my opinion, for what its worth
