I usually laugh at so called 'scary' and 'horror' films

Iīve yet to see a "scary" film that gave me nightmares or stopped me from sleeping at night - on an odd occasion I might feel "startled" for a moment during the viewing but it has no lasting effect on me.
The Friday 13th films were more of an exercise in gore than an attempt to "scare". Itīs the same with the films of Jason - an exercise in just how much gore itīs possible to squeeze into 90 -110 mins of film. The film that for my wife & I that was so distasteful that we had to switch off the TV - much to the disgust of our 3 kids - was "Killing in Texas" (as we saw it in Spain, in Spanish, many years ago I donīt know the original title in English Iīve translated the title in Spanish which was "Matanza en Texas"). I doubt whether we saw even half of the film but I just had to get up & turn the TV off - it was really sickening!!! As for "Scary Movie" that was a laugh - it couldnīt scare anybody! It was another of those films along the lines of Freddy & Jason. We wouldnīt let our kids see them when they were young & had their first showings on TV - we didnīt watch them either! I know some parents send their kids to bed when they donīt want them to see a film on TV & then they sit back with their popcorn or a bag of crisps (or a pizza!) & a beer or fizzy drink & watch it themselves! Of course itīs very likely that nowadays the kids have their own TV in their rooms so that tactic no longer works! If they havenīt got a TV theyīve probably got a computer with an Internet connexion! They can then see all kind of "scary" films or full of gore - the more the merrier! Even if they canīt see a film or trailers they still have their games even more full of gore - if that is possible! Sorry if anybody thinks Iīm ranting on! Gore = entertainment seems to be the password in the film & game industry of today!
