We have several other requests that seem unimportant....one is coming from a manufacturing company claiming that one of their parts in your ship is expected to fail in about 24 hours...
Ummm. This wouldn't be the maker of the recently whining coolant pump would it?

Concerning the Estes rocket thing, I did see a fifth stage with parachute of a "Mighty Goddess" stuck on the ouside of the gondola of the space elevator. No Estes parts have been seen on Mars, except for the Gyroc that the two girls brough along, and launched here. Starlab was joking about launching a Big Bertha from Phobos, but I didn't take him seriously.

Concerning Josie_1's hopes to join the mission, sadly she'll have to wait till another one. We are, after all, already here, and planning to return starting in six days. She can try to hook up with GalaxyGirl, and the others stuck at home to try and plan the next trip someplace special. Personally, I'm staying in mission control for the next one.

Spacemad, in Chook and my defence, we saw a tobacco looking plant and decided to cut it up and smoke it. Well, no sooner were we finished smoking the sweet smelling plant than we got ravishingly hungry. So you see, we couldn't help it. B)
I have no room for "Tobacco looking plants" in my mini greenhouse, you must have found the "mutated" tomato plant - I wondered where it had got to! The cosmic rays must have affected its DNA & caused it to mutate. (If you hadn´t "decided to cut it up and smoke it" it could have been used on Earth to help people that suffer from nutritional problems. :P )

Sorry for smoking your tomato plant Spacemad, it was Chook's idea. B)

Chook, Rigel will be there shortly, he's sleeping off the effects of the concoction I made for the cold weather!

If anyone needs me, I'll be practicing the new songs antoniseb requested we learn.

Concerning waste, oxygen, water, etc, we have a very good recycling system, made possible by the large amount of power we get from the solar concentrator system. The ship came with a surplus supply of the essentials. We are using some of the recycled nutrients in the hydroponic gardens.
Thanks to the gardens we have been able to keep our air & water supplies in very good condition - future space missions should take this into account! They also provide fresh vitamins (especially vit C, which are in very high concentration in tomatoes, one of the best natural resources of this vitamin), Soya beans produce more than enough of the rest of the vitamins & minerals we need for our everyday activities as well as "tons" of protein.

0000%{*}^,,^/^^@_...>...><<../0)..#.~....-....>... [ it means we are greatly enjoying the expedition and the tour so far, our scientific ideas are going very smoothly and converting into a encyclopedia, since we are in this expedition uptill we don't have any complaint of 1. food, 2. health, 3.laughing [laughing facility was available on board] and so many things i have wrote in this preface of this book "True experiences of Mars Expedition-2004". from the destination of mars, contact my mars address. no complimentry copy available, send subscription one time+docking and discharging charges free.

Let Them Eat Cake

After a difficult night, knowing there was something unusual coming up, and a lot of tossing and turning, I went into the galley and started making a Cake. It is a rich round three-layer lemon-flavored cake [the middle layer is double-chocolate, not lemon] with tangy orange frosting. On the top we have a big letter "C", a plus sign, and a picture of a fishing hook. I stuck every flickering LED stick we had on board [we only had three boxes, so there are 48 'candles'].

So as soon as Chook wakes up, let's get the band together to play some up-tempo party music.

That's right, Chook...it's a pair of Mars walking shoes. I know how you have to have your morning walks, so.....I hope they fit, they're adjustable. Enjoy!
OK, what did everybody else get Chook?

Here you are, chook! I'm sorry I've kept this from the rest of you for a while but, I got lost - jimmy's delicious (I won't ask what's in it!) energy, cold thwarting drink kept me going. However, I made an interesting discovery in a crater - it appears to be our first beastie, chook! I'm giving it to you to show how much we appreciate you on this journey!

I'm not sure whether to believe if my discovery is positive (it's very stereotypical) - I'll take it into the lab and run some tests to make certain it isn't one of our crew who's completely starving - there's no need to be, Jimmy's food supply'll keep us going!

Happy Birthday, Chook!

Kind regards
Rigel

As for the other beastie....I agree with chook - It doesn't seem to be a hoax. It doesn't have a pulse - no heart indicated so it cannot possibly be an earthling as well as it not having an earthling-like respiratory system It has a green tint as chook has stressed - I've taken some samples and put them under the microscope - I notied that there are traces of corophyl which indeed would give reasons why the creature has a green tinge and also indicate signs of photosynthesis!

Martian discovery!

(I wasn't sure how to upload the pic into the thread without using the hyperlnk tool!)

The only sheila on-board that's awake is Ola. Spacefreak2 and Janice have been sleeping so far. Hopefully they'll wake up in time to at least see Mars a little bit before we head back to Earth. Perhaps there are some native sheilas out there somewhere.

You say it's your birthday
It's my birthday too--yeah
They say it's your birthday
We're gonna have a good time
I'm glad it's your birthday
Happy birthday to you.

Yes we're going to a party party
Yes we're going to a party party
Yes we're going to a party party.

I would like you to dance--Birthday
Take a cha-cha-cha-chance-Birthday
I would like you to dance--Birthday
Dance

You say it's your birthday
Well it's my birthday too--yeah
You say it's your birthday
We're gonna have a good time
I'm glad it's your birthday
Happy birthday to you.

1989 or 1889?

Great job on those vocals, antoniseb; I could have sworn McCartney was singing!!! Nice krumbhorn solo too.

Chook, how do you like your party so far? OK OK, we'll try to round up a few more sheilas.

Chromestsr,

This is Houston again,

The kid thinks its his...There should be some chewing gum stuck on the bottom
of the antenna...

By the way, some old lady stopped in a few moments ago...

She left a message that I've misplaced....something about taking pineapple (if you brought any along) and marinating it in worcestershire sauce and then putting it on rice bread toast.. The martian atmosphere is supposed to do wonders for it...

That wouldn't have been a relative of yours, was it?

Looks like I missed the boat or rather rocket this time.

That's okay, I'm thinking about a trip simular to the Would you Go thread to some of the local stars for sometime in the new year.
Any thoughts?

This has been a nice social thread, and I wouldn't mind seeing the idea repeated sometime. Please wait until January 18th at the earliest before starting a new one... That's when this trip gets back to Earth.

We launch from Mars at 2200UT On Tuesday January 4th. We set sail for Earth in the "Adventure" two hours later.

BTW, Sunil, the poem was the one Jimmy mentioned by Lennon & McCartney. My birthday is about 150 days from now.

Sunil, the poem Anton wrote is a real song by a band called the Beatles. The song was written about 35 years ago.

Ola, here is some special oil to rub on your feet...

Chook, wake up! wake up! Rigel is waiting for you outside to go and catch some martian butterflies or something!

Anton, the solar panels are getting a bit dusty, I think I'll go and clean them.
Spacemad, where's the windex? I bet you left it in your plant room.

You know, last night I was looking back home to Earth through my telescope and I saw a big blurb like thing. I thought it might have been an explosion or something, but on closer inspection I discovered it was Notre Dame's beard. I wonder how that rascal is doing?
