My name is Paul, and I'm from central Massachusetts. I don't have a degree or work in astronomy, or any other science or engineering, but I have had a strong interest in astronomy since I was 7 years old and popped open a book that had a diagram of the solar system. Once I read that one of the planets that one could see in the night sky was hundreds of times larger than the earth and had more than 20 moons, and that there were stars that were hundreds of times more massive than the sun that actually exploded, I was hooked. I also developed a passionate interest in history, and went on to be a history major (I was always much more comfortable with words than with numbers) but I never lost a layman's interest in astronomy and space exploration. Now I sometimes combine the two by looking for information on the history of science and space exploration.

Hello. Names David, I'm a 26yo high school drop out from Rednecksville Washington state. I currently have a BS in B.S. and a GED in... well whatever they give ya them thar things fer. I'm a dirt track racer and I have one business making synthetic stone floor tiles and another making moldings of all types and T&G log siding.
Ive always loved to learn about the stars. I spend a bit of time lookin up at the stars since the skies out here are so bright and clear, unless the farmers are burnin off the wheat fields.

Hi, neighbor. I hope you're further from the hideous Worcester light pollution than I am...

Well, Worcester is just about 10 miles away, so there is a considerable amount of glare in part of the sky. Unfortunately for stargazing, the best view by far from my yard is right in the direction of Worcester, where the light tends to obscure all but the brightest objects. So, all in all, it's far from ideal, though better than a lot of other places around here. |

Hi, I'm Connie. I'm not a scientist except in my kitchen and my work room where I devise all kinds of potions with essential oils. I'm not an astronomer but I do have a telescope and my star maps, of course. I love the mysteries of life and I'd love to help bridge the gap between astronomy and astrology. They aren't really at odds. It's just that some of us are at odds with ourselves, I think. I thought I post a short intro while waiting my first post to be approved in the pendulum/Allias effect thread.

I grew up in Nashua, NH so I guess we used to be almost neighbors. I'm in PA now. I also have gotten hooked on the History of Astronomy. I have recently read two books that I thoroughly enjoyed: The Book Nobody Read: Chasing the Revolutions of Nicolaus Copernicus by Owen Gingerich and Heavenly Intrigue: Johannes Kepler, Tycho Brahe, and the Murder Behind One of History's Greatest Scientific Discoveries by Joshua Gilder. Have fun here. It's a great forum! ![]()

Hello, I'm Jason. I'm a chef in Minnesota, and have been hooked on the solar system and the outer reaches for as long as I can remember. I have more space pictures in file folders than I could reasonably go through in a day, and I'm always hungry for new info. Just wanted to say 'hi' before hitting the other forums. Glad I found this site!

I live ten miles out of Wasilla, AK (I was born in Anchorage) and I'd rather not revael my age.
BTW What's with all the Austrailians in mod\admin positions? No prejudice or intended offense but three in a row at the very beginning of this thread really got my attention.
