"eye-gor" is fine. And my Laboratory Assistant says "Thank you" whenever I refer to immense door knockers, as if she takes it personally.

Hi everyone. New member here. My name is Alan and I live in northwest Connecticut, US. I used to be into this stuff but due to a cheap telescope and lots of light pollution I lost interest for awhile. No problem with lights where I'm at now. I just have to get a decent telescope and camera to take pictures with now.

How are you all. I'm a pragmatic realist by nature. Zen Agnostic spiritually. Utterly uninterested sportwise. Anarchistic politically(governments always mess everything up and we'd be better off without them). Some day I hope to shoot down a UFO and use it to escape this rock.
I can dream. Ofcourse that seems a bit of a longshot so in the meantime I just write science fiction. |

Well I guess I should do the honourable thing and introduce myself to you all, and there are so many of you too.......
My name is Dale, I am 45 years old, and I live in Canberra....The CAPITAL city of Australia........Not Sydney as so many of you international folk seem to think!.....Sorry but it a pet hate of mine that so many people think that Sydney is our capital city....understandable, but nevertheless,WRONG! So having got that of my chest, where was I.....Oh thats right, I was introducing myself........Hi all very happy to be in with such a mixed and diversified crowd, and your a knowledgeable bunch too, hope I can contribute to the big scheme of things and add some constructive input here and there from time to time.... Well I am very fortunate to live here in Canberra as it has a good amount of Australian astronomical history attached to it you see! One of the first telescopes to be housed in a commonwealth building was erected here in Canberra at turn of the century, and the site at Mt Stromlo here in Canberra is still on the cutting edge of some great telescope and astronomical projects. Sadly many of the original scopes that were located at the Mt Stromlo site were damaged or completely destroyed by the 2000 bushfires that ravaged the site so mercilessly, but as astronomers are such a persistant bunch, it has not taken to long for the site to take a new and different direction, and things, although not back to there former glory are heading in the right direction...( UP ) Well I have rattled for long enough me thinks, and so I will wave the hand and again say a warm hello to all of you, hope we will get the opportunity to carry on some interesting topics together very soon....My best regards...Dale M. Hello All
I'm Ann. As of may 2007 I now live in Katoomba, Blue Mountains, Australia. I'm 55, a retired pathology technician and have been an amatuer astronomer since I was a teenager but have always been interested the sky and stars ever since my dad showed them to me as a small girl in outback Australia at my grandparent's property.. I have my own C8 telescope with computer system and now do astro-photography whenever I get the chance.. When I am not looking at the skies with my scope or wondering who or what is "Out There" I am either painting landscapes or training at my chosen sport of athletics. I am also field assistant to an Archaeologist in Australia's Blue Mountains and am also interested in Egyptology. I read, write short stories, paint in watercolours and acrylics. I also enjoy bushwalking and hiking. Now that I have moved to the mountains (over 3300 ft up) I get do a lot more astronomy as the skies are just so crystal clear, when the weather permits. The skies here are a myriad of stars and very beautiful. There is no cityshine to disturb my seeing the stars and I could just reach out and touch them...they look so close. I call it.... Astronomy with Altitude ![]() I am also a member of the SETI@Home project and I run SETI in the hope that my small contribution will have helped us make contact one day. Even if it is not in my lifetime, it will eventually happen. I have always believed that we do indeed share the universe with other sentient intelligences and civilisations and that our planet was not just an act of random seeding and that we are not alone in the cosmos and that one day we will make contact with them out there. Intelligence is out there, we just have to find them. Hope I haven't bored you. Cheers Ann |

Hello folks;
I was introduced to this forum by my uncle, also named Dave Clark. Looks like a fun and interesting place. I live east of Cincinnati OH in a fairly dark-sky area, have a Celestron Ultima 2000 'scope and hack around with it whenever I can. I'll probably be a mostly read-only member ... thanks! |

Hi ryanwulf and dclark61. Nice avatars both of you. Wow, two Dave Clarks. We just need three more and we can start a band.
We have several other members around the Cincinnati area; I'm up in Cleveland.
