I was wondering about your handle. Good beer, nice bottle (I'm channeling Worf today).

Maybe your background in Geology and Climatology will be a help with discussions we have about such topics (particularly Global Warming) in the General Science forum.

Welcome and cheers.

Default Mr Q

Hello all from north central New Mexico. I moved out here last April from the light polluted skies of New England, where I was born and grew up. I've been into stargazing since i was 10 (watching Sputnick passing overhead hooked me!) and with practically no information sources back in the late 50s, I taught myself and learned the hobby the hard way through the "school of hard knocks". All of my observations are done visually with a Mead 10" newt and a pair of 10x50 and 11x70 binoculars. The sky out here is so dark and clear compared to N.E., it's renewed my observing intrests to the max! If I have any questions, I'll ask and answer any I can. Looks like a great forum and I'm loking forward to enjoying it.

Wishing all clear, dark skies - Mr Q

Default Hi

Hi peeps
been browsing the forums for ages and thought it was about time to join.
originally came to BAUT looking for scientific evidence to refute a couple of moon hoaxers at work (how does a 1 hr program of pseudo-science / misrepresentation / downright fakery outweigh 40+ years of hard scientific evidence?) and found the site right up my street.

Talking

Hello,
Since i joined two years ago i don't post much i just read. My name is Charlie, im 21 atm. I'm originally from North Bergen, New Jersey and moved to Pembroke Pines, Florida when i was 16. I wasn't into astronomy too much,
(being from Northern Jersey you don't see many stars) up until three years ago. On a drive to Key west i looked out side my window at the sky and WHAM! I pulled over and sat on top of my car for two hours. Been hooked ever since. Joined the Airforce a year ago and work at Buckley AFB, CO.

Not much else. Although i hope when i die i come back later when we have resorts on other planets as vacation spots. (AHH Starship Troopers)

Been reading the BA blog for quite some time(i check the bookmark for it compulsively) and never really bothered to register or anything until now. I'm Joe, a first year ph.d student at RPI in electrical engineering doing research in optoelectronics. I've been a fan of astronomy and astrophysics for a long time and my love for space rivals my love for shooting lasers at things.

Hey all! I'm 21, and about to graduate with a Physics BS. I hail from California, enjoy many nerdy pastimes such as computer gaming and D&D, and wish I lived further from the city light pollution. Great to meet you all!

Hey everyone,
I'm a freshman at University of Wisconsin, Madison, planning to major in either physics or engineering physics. I've been looking around here on and off over the last couple years, but finally decided its time to participate (looks to make a good hobby). Right now, I'm really into chess, table tennis, and movies, but I'm always looking for new things to try.
