Hi Rekisha, welcome to BAUT. By the way, which country are you coming to for your stuides? I assume you mean the United States, but one of the owners of this site (Fraser) is from Canada and we have members from all over the world. Where ever you are traveling to, good luck with school.

Hi. I just turned 27 yrs old, and that means by 2010, I'll be one year on Saturn :P When I was a kid I couldn't go potty without an issue of illustrated science infront of me, and when we had "show your hobbies" in preschool, I brought a book about mystic and mysteries including pictures of various nebulaes, galaxies and other galactic mesmerizing imagery. My favourites are spiral galaxies in general and the more distant, the more intriquing. If you got some great rare shots of nebulaes and galaxies please PM me so I can have a look Hope to find lots of new pics and videos on this forum. Thanks for reading. See you around!

Hi TK, Welcome to BAUT! I'll bet you have amazing, clear night skies there--I envy that.

Time to introduce myself after lurking so long, as well. I llive on the polluted-sky east coast of the US. I am not very knowledgeable in astronomy, but am fascinated by everything you clever folks are discussing here. I'm a civil engineer (since that appeared to be the easiest branch of engineering when I was started college 34 years ago!

Hi M - I'm in a similar situation here in the sw U.S., with almost 360 views of the horizon from 20-60 miles away. Though the nearest city is 26 miles away, a mountain chain blocks most of its light pollution. And at 6500' elevation, the sky is always clear and dark. I heard somewhere that the people "down under" refere to the "land up over" as being Alaska. Is this correct or are they reffering to the U.S. in general? Mr Q

Howdy. Jonathan Strickland here. I'm a writer, actor and goofball. Oh, and a skeptic as well. I've been reading the blog for several months. Just got around to registering today.

Hello,

I'm disabled and in my middle age. Although I've never worked in the sciences I like to stay somewhat current and literate in new developments in science and technology.

I don't believe in theories like the Electric Universe and little green men building the Pyramids, although I think string theory is compelling and would like to get a better grasp of what is causing the accelerated expansion of the universe and what exactly is all that missing matter made of.

Hope I can contribute something here.

thanks

Well, do you believe in little green electricians building pyramidal universes?

Broken Arrow - Welcome to the forum! Imagine all those silly people who think the pyramids were made by little green men from Mars! I mean, do not most intelligent people agree that they were actually purple with white polka-dots? Mr Q

Hello,

Always been interested in science and read sci-fi a lot growing up and into my adult years. Now I have graduated to reading physics books. Always was interested in science and math. In general, these courses were always fairly easy for me as compared to my friend's take on these subjects and I enjoyed them in that I would like to go further with them that what was presented in class.

I have an EE degree and still do design work. Sometimes I regret that I didn't go into a science field such as physics or astronomy because that was my first and still my main interest. I grew up in a small town in the middle of coal fields and farms so I didn't get the exposure to college academics until later when I went off to school and started work. I never had the confidence when I was young or understood what the science fields were like until later after I had gone fairly well into the engineering field. But as I stated earlier, I still follow science closely.
