Hi all
![]() Just a short note to say g'Day. I'm an amateur living in Sydney, Australia and belong to the Macarthur Astronomical Society in Sydney's southern suburbs. I have a number of scopes and am an avid sky watcher. I plan to put an observatory in the back yard when funds allow so that I can properly address my interest in astrophotography. We have a property down south in the Australian snowies called "Omaroo" - hence my name here. The name means "beautiful view" in a local aboriginal dialect, which is apt for both the property, as it's quite high (for Australia), as well as astronomy in general. Views from the top of our hill (920 metres above sea level) are 360 deg and the sky is super-dark. Anyhow, I hope to be active here - it looks like a place to get and give some answers Cheers Chris

Patient Skeptic here, (aka Tom) and glad to be joining. I've been a reader of the badastronomy site for a good while and finally decided to join the forum to babble endlessly about the wonders of the universe. I look forward to engaging everyone in witty ramblings on all things scientifically amazing.
Just for the record: I'm not a scientist, but have a keen, layman's understanding of the methods of science. Primarily, I'm an illustrator, writer and sculptor, and am currently working on my magnum opus, a sci-fi graphic novel series aimed at promoting clear thinking through the high adventures of a group of extra-terrestrials. Don't be surprised if I bring up some odd topics related to cosmic exploration, as I'll probably be doing research for a bit of the story.

I'm James Schmidt (yes that's my real name).
I'm 61 years old (or young). I've been an amateur astronomer since dirt. I recently discovered iPods and Podcasts so I discovered a whole new world to explore. My Astronomy related claim(s) to fame are: Ground and figured my own 6" mirror which I then incorporated into my 6" Newtonian. This was done when the Adler Planetarium had an optical shop in it's basement. Went on to win first place in the 2nd Annual Telescope Fair in the mid '60s with the above telescope. During the same timeframe ... Spent the entire night with J Alan Hynek at Northwestern's Dearborn Observatory observing endless objects of interest with the (then) brand new Image Orthicon detector attached to the 18" Alvan Clark refractor. What a night. Later, J |

Hi Maksutov,
Thank you for replying me Well, in our country astronomical equipment are commonly not available...So I have to import all the thing s I need to complete the project form other countries (mainly from USA)...So I have to select what are precise stuff (the correct telescope, selecting servo motors etc..)..in 1st phase doing as prototype and if it is succeed we will implement it..I need feed back form BAUT to my project..i have lot of question to ask and I will slowly ask then one by one…robotic telescope project is never launched in our country..This is the 1st and it will be a challenge to me.. |

Seeing as how your project mainly involves observational equipment, I would suggest you start a thread called something like "Robotic Telescope Project: Help Needed" in the Astronomical Observing, Equipment and Accessories forum. Hope the project is successful!
