Last couple of weeks have been mixed rain, light snow, bright sunshine, overcast and several days where Mars was really good.

Up until last week temperatures has been very high compared to the average, last week a little below average, it looks like November will be another above average month.

The last two weeks have been near freezing here.
And today it's snowing.

Today is a beautiful, sunny winter day. About 3cm of snow on the ground, -7C. And everyone is wearing parkas, which I find kind of funny. I'm from Ottawa, you see...

Currently -11C in Thunder Bay, Ontario, and the snow won't be going away any time soon.

Today, cloudy with sunny periods. 40 percent chance of flurries early this morning. High minus 6.

We've been rather fortunate here though, unlike the prairie provinces. Those nasty winter storms seem to just keep missing us.

We finally got rid of the inversion in Vancouver yesterday. It's been foggy for a week. Now back to rain.

Snow! I met with a bunch of friends (about thirty), and we all gathered at our host's hotel for Thanksgiving dinner. About three hours into it, he threw open the wide glass doors to the outside and began singing "White Christmas," and it was!

Snow and all.

All of us sang a few well-known songs before we moved back to our social groups.

Wonderful!

And this morning, I woke up to a 20 minute car cleaning/de-icing before I could move...

ATM

Temp: 26°C/79°F
Humidity: 86%
Feels like: 28°C/82°F

It's 10pm

It was 40somthing (106+) yesterday, 91% humidity....

We have hot wet summers, cool dry winters.... We get big storms during the summer in the afternoon...

Apart from the storms(wich are awesome to watch), I don't like summer... it's tooo hot... and your body tries to sweat to cool down, but the air's got that much moisture in it, it just can't hold anymore. So your sweat just oozes down into a puddle on the floor making you hotter....

But we got air-con in 2000(after the 1999 summer) so did most of the rest of brisbane....

A record-breaking december. Ten deg Celsius (50F) last night and frost in the southernmost states. The gods definitely went nuts, or maybe that´s what they call global warming.

I'm in Solon and it's nice and sunny... you must be NE of me...
Interesting what a few km's will do. Darn Lake.

Edit to add:
Ok this one is great. Linked on the following story Summit County to use 'plain English' to describe road conditions .
Starting with "Confused by the various levels of snow emergencies when several inches fall and roads are affected?"
Now heres the kicker. The normal weather warnings the site has on every page says:
...LAKE EFFECT SNOW WARNING HAS EXPIRED... ...LAKE EFFECT SNOW ADVISORY REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 7 PM EST THIS EVENING... THE LAKE EFFECT SNOW WARNING IS NO LONGER IN EFFECT. A LAKE EFFECT SNOW ADVISORY REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 7 PM EST FOR THE LAKESHORE AREA NORTH OF INTERSTATE 90. ...LAKE EFFECT SNOW WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 7 PM EST THIS EVENING... A LAKE EFFECT SNOW WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 7 PM EST THIS EVENING FOR THE SNOWBELT OF NORTHEAST OHIO AND INLAND NORTHWEST PENNSYLVANIA. ...LAKE EFFECT SNOW ADVISORY REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 7 PM EST THIS EVENING... A LAKE EFFECT SNOW ADVISORY REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 7 PM FOR EASTERN CUYAHOGA COUNTY. -------- REPEATING -------- WINTER WEATHER WARNING FOR ASHTABULA COUNTY, CUYAHOGA COUNTY, GEAUGA COUNTY, AND LAKE COUNTY UNTIL 3:15 PM EST.

cut from page because it changes frequently...

You somewhere near Falcon? I have some interesting memories concerning that place.

I assume you meant Falcon ANGB (I guess it's AFB now, right?).

I lived in Boulder and we worked (contractors) there. I too have some interesting memories. Including recreating the lost-submariner scene from the novel Ice Station Zebra. At some points, leaning into the snow-laden wind whilst enroute from the gate to destination, I could practically feel Siberian wolves closing in on me.

There wasn't much around there at the time, such as places to get lunch - did you ever refer to the area as "Saudi Aurora"?

But it's been > 4 years, so according to Taks I wouldn't recognize it.

Anyway, here in suburban MD, it's a little above freezing, mostly sunny, breeze blowin'. An inch or two of snow the other night, more on the way tomorrow? I like winter. I lived in Houston a long time, and have had enough hot, humid weather. I couldn't stand a place that was warm all the time - I'd find Hawaii a nice place to visit, but wouldn't want to live there....

i believe he meant falcon, colorado. falcon is on the outer edge (east) at woodmen and hwy 24. it is a small town, growing rapidly and trying desperately to be recognized...

the only AFBs around are peterson and schriever. well, two in town of 400,000 and i say only. hehe...

nope... it has changed radically in the 3 years i've been here.

i was in gaithersburg last wed/thurs for a meeting with one of our sister divisions. it was rather nice, actually. a bit cold, but not as bad as today in colorado springs. the fact that there was moisture in the air was enough for me to like it, however.

oh, today, according to weather.com it is 0F (-18C) feels like -11F (-24C). the skies are clearing, and it should warm up tomorrow. we have snow on the ground, about 6-8 inches or so, and have had snow on the ground for several days. usually, it melts off the day it snows...

oops. sorry, i did read the post, but my brain malfunctioned rather badly - twice in one post:
1. I substituted "Denver" for "Colorado Springs", and then
2. I substituted "Falcon" for "Buckley", which is the base I was thinking about.

Buckley ANGB (or AFB, now, I think) is on the eastern edge of Denver, in Aurora. That's what I had in mind.

However - I have been to Schriever AFB for work - but it used to be called Falcon AFB.

My neurons are hopelessly tangled, now.

p.s. Taks, do you work for lockmart?

It was so cold this morning. I left for work at 515AM, so it was very dark. I had to cover my face due to the freezing winds. My cool tinted glasses got all steamed up from my breath. By the time I got off of work, the Sun was shining, so it wasn't as bad.

I'm glad I have a connecting garage, because this is the kind of cold that doesn't like cars.

Yesterday in Sydney, it reached 39.0C (102.2F) at 4.38pm, getting down to 21.5C (70.7F) by 3.50am. First hot day of the summer.

Not too much snow around.

Nope, Falcon, CO, as Taks explained. Here's a map:

Falcon, CO

"Saudi Aurora" is a new one (or one I've forgotten). I still recall the Q&A of "Why not Minot? Freezin's the reason!"

I spent some time in Boulder, having had friends there who were associated with CU. It was fun climbing the Flatirons, and scrambling up the sides of Gregory Canyon on the SE side of Flagstaff Mountain. It was also, of course, a convenient jumping-off spot for the north CO Rockies.

Weather here should be interesting tomorrow. It's going to be a close call between rain, freezing rain, and snow. Probably a bit of all three.

It's great sport for a Northerner to watch Southerners try to drive on icy roads (as long as no one gets seriously hurt). Fenders can always be repaired, or left unrepaired while the insurance money goes to buy those Yosemite Sam "Back Off!" mud flaps you just had to have...
