It's been between -7C and -15C here lately (Toronto) .. looks like it's warmed up to a modest -2C today.

i'm torn on the idea of living in colorado's answer to san francisco. it's beautiful up there, and very close to both steamboat and rocky mountain national park, both of which i can't get enough of.

the politics of the town don't really bother me so much as the big school smack dab in the middle of it. college towns are so... college.

there are, however, many cool DSP companies in that area. at least, many cool companies that hire DSP type employees. THAT, could make it interesting.

Well, it was -0.5C (31F) last night and we had a high around 3C (38F) this afternoon. Thankfully, the rain had passed on and we didn't get any of the ice that north and central Texas had. The temp at 1830 hours is already at 1.5C (35F) and expected to hit the freezing mark in the next 2-3 hours.

Even Galveston is expected to get close to freezing by tomorrow morning. The forecasters just called for 12 hours of freeze for areas just north and west of Houston and 6-9 hours of freeze for Houston itself.

Sunny today, 65F (18C) high. It got fairly cold by Sacramento standards last night - 39F/4C. Light wind. This is pretty good - this is rain/fog season, so far we've been doing okay on the fog, and had light rain a couple days ago. Some years there seems to be nothing but fog or rain during the winter.

For those who actually like snow, they can take a fairly short drive into the hills and mountains. I only occasionally want to see it.

This is from the night before last. All temperatures are in Fahrenheit.

Quote:
AREA FORECAST DISCUSSION
NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE PUEBLO CO
454 AM MST THU DEC 8 2005

ACTUAL AIR TEMPERATURES OVERNIGHT HAVE REACHED RECORD LEVELS IN SOME CASES. THE LOW SO FAR AT COLORADO SPRINGS HAS BEEN 15 BELOW ZERO WHICH IS A NEW RECORD FOR THE DATE. THE OLD ONE WAS 14 BELOW ZERO SET BACK IN 1978. A PRELIMINARY LOOK INDICATES THIS IS THE COLDEST MORNING LOW FOR COLORADO SPRINGS SINCE A FEBRUARY 3RD READING OF 18 BELOW IN 1996 (ALMOST A DECADE AGO). THE PUEBLO AND ALAMOSA RECORDS ARE A LITTLE MORE OUT OF REACH AT -23 IN 1978 AND -42 IN 1978...RESPECTIVELY.

Down at the Academy Airfield, things shaped up like this:

min temp: -19.6
min wind chill: -40.2

Looks like it´s goona be a fine day for kayaking, for the first time after winter. it´s 10 am, beers are slowly reaching the perfect temperature (zero C), and the sky is full of fluffy cumuluses, at 26C. It´s gonna be a hot day. Summer´s shown up, finally (not that I like it that much, though...). I´ll think of you icepeople when I´m at the river, later this afternoon.

Friday the temps didn't get above 38 F; Saturday it was a balmy 70. Such is the weather in Texas.

we've been in the high 90s (35-38C) every day since the beginning of May. We've even broken 100 a couple of times. Summer is going to be a long one. Good thing there is a pool near my house. Since gas prices are still going up I'll find other forms of recreation than riding a motorcycle.

More than a couple. Twice in the last week of May and the first three days of June. The average first 100o day here is July 11th and last year we didn't break 95!

yea, it seems like the temps are higher than normal.

I'm still not complaining, and as long as we have the occasional rain shower like yesterday I'll be happy.
