Not really. For every gem it came up with there was a LOT, and I do mean a LOT of dead air fluff. I did like the cover art and continuum though.

I bought the first issue way back when, since it promised never-before-published photographs which were claimed to be conclusive evidence of alien UFOs.

What did I get get?

Photographs of lenticular clouds over the Andes mountains.

Never bought another issue.

Just a predecessor of Wired magazine: high on appearance and design, low on content.

I liked it for about the first year or so. Yes, there was a bunch of woo-woo stuff, but I liked the idea of mixed science and science fiction and it had some pretty good fiction. There were also some pretty funny contests - I recall one which was like wacky definitions - one of things that was defined was "Penguin Dust" which was either:
(1) The command given after "Penguin Wash Dishes" or "Penguin Vacuum"
(2) Fallout from an exploding Penguin.

Now what does it say about my brain that I remember that after 20+ years?

I miss it because I once wrote a story where the only venue I could figure it would've been publishable was Omni. (It was a conspiracy theory about crazy bus people.)

Like others, I read an issue or two, but it went downhill fast into woo woo ism.

No, I don't miss it.

Nope. As aurora notes, too much woo. Good riddance.

My sister got me a subscription to it. She liked the artwork - but she has very different tastes in art than I do. Most of the stories weren't my style either and usually too short. There was an an occasional interesting article, but it wasn't great.

I let the subscription lapse but occasionally would pick up an issue at the book store. I didn't realize they had folded for a year or two.

I miss the ambigram-ish OMNI logo that could be read vertically as:

We've been getting Cosmos down here for the last six months or so - it's a pretty good read. http://www.cosmosmagazine.com/
