I liked it for about the first year or so. Yes, there was a bunch of woo-woo stuff, but I liked the idea of mixed science and science fiction and it had some pretty good fiction. There were also some pretty funny contests - I recall one which was like wacky definitions - one of things that was defined was "Penguin Dust" which was either:
(1) The command given after "Penguin Wash Dishes" or "Penguin Vacuum" (2) Fallout from an exploding Penguin. Now what does it say about my brain that I remember that after 20+ years?

I miss it because I once wrote a story where the only venue I could figure it would've been publishable was Omni. (It was a conspiracy theory about crazy bus people.)

My sister got me a subscription to it. She liked the artwork - but she has very different tastes in art than I do. Most of the stories weren't my style either and usually too short. There was an an occasional interesting article, but it wasn't great.
I let the subscription lapse but occasionally would pick up an issue at the book store. I didn't realize they had folded for a year or two.

We've been getting Cosmos down here for the last six months or so - it's a pretty good read. http://www.cosmosmagazine.com/
