Sometimes, the joy of being an admin on a big board is self-promotion.
My Bad Astronomy Blog is a finalist for a 2006 Weblog Award, aka a Bloggie (sorta the Oscar for blogs). This is no doubt in small part due to my shameless shilling of it. Anyway, just a note here that voting is now open. The categories are interesting, with no science category per se. Mine is listed under "Best Topical Weblog". I'm up against Cute Overload and Treehugger, which is grossly unfair, given that they are also up for blog of the year. I may lobby for a science category, as well as getting that into other blog awards. There are some really good science blogs out there (check my blogroll) and it's not fair that they don't have a category to themselves. Voting closes on January 31, so head over there! The winner will be picked the week of March 13, which figures, as I'll be running around doing real astronomy stuff just then. Given my competition, I don't realistically expect to win, but it's an honor just to be nominated. ![]()
