Default Browncoat (shirt, pants, etc.) birthday

Well my wife surprised me good. She had everybody wear something brown.

Serenity (yeah, yeah, we're slowpokes in getting the movie), a Jane - Hero of Canton mug, lightbox movie poster, and her parents star present is still being shipped. I did overhear her and her mom talking about it and wanting to make sure "it was an official" ... something.

All-in-all, a shiny day.

I'm no longer a twenty-something (well in 5 more days) though. I've left that age bracket forever.

Hehehe, that's pretty cool, Captain. My family and gfs have only occasionally approved of my vices. You have to pass along how you got them to do that.

As for the official "something", if it's a lifesized Kaylee, and you don't want it...

Heh, now that'd be very shiny. Wait, I'm married... married...

It helps that both my wife and her mother are browncoats too.

Oh, they continued the theme into wrapping all the gifts in brown paper.

You don't have a list?! Tim McGraw is on my wife's. Allyson Hannigan is on mine. However, if I knew there was a Kaylee inbound I would probably change.

Captain, you might want to check out www.blackmarketbeagles.com for some nice Firefly/Serenity inspired stuff.

There's a poster there that illustrates one crucial scene from Serenity (the BDM, not the pilot) in a very cool way. I now have one on my office door at work.

Hmm, I'm only seeing two posters and I don't think either are what you mean.

Yeah, I got a list, so does she...actually Kaylee is on her "if I were so inclined" list. (Makes life so much easier when she beats me to, "wow, she's hot.")

Well, the one I'm talking about is right there on the main page, where it says POSTERS...

Ah ha, oops that one. I think we might just get the other, that's neat and very much up my wife's alley. Unfortunately I'm a cube-dweller, no door to hang any posters on (hence thinking of my wife when looking at that second poster.)

Heh. It's always creeped my boyfriends out. (Well, not always, but most of 'em.) The current just smiles and nods--I think he's into Kaylee, too. (As who is not?)

My wife. She finds Kaylee annoyingly "cutesy."

Kaylee reminds me of my old roommate Mele, who it's practically impossible to dislike. Maybe you have to actually meet her, though.

The final gift turned out to be a special issue of the comic signed by Ron Glass.
(They almost got me the Kaylee one which would have been hilarious considering this thread.)

Edit: Is this item on Amazon the entire three-book volume in one cover?

Very nice! I got his autograph at GenCon last summer. I'll have to remember to compare mine with what's on that comic picture tomorrow. Still, that's a cool present. I really need to pick up those comics one of these days.

Yes it is, and it also includes all nine cover paintings from the comics (as well as its own shiny cover). There's also a nice introduction written by Nathan Fillion.

Caveat, however: it's in a slightly smaller form factor than the original comics. I have both, and I like the comics better for that reason.

"Those Left Behind" is referred to in fandom circles as the TPB (trade paperback).

I got the trade paperback because I somehow missed the original three-part comics miniseries when it came out.

I did, however, find a copy of the 3rd issue, so I have that, too.

At the back of the 3rd issue, there's an ad indicating that Firefly-based novels would be forthcoming.

Does anybody know if any have been released yet?

EDIT: I see that Amazon has a listing for "Mirror Image", by Keith R.A. DeCandido, but no release date...just saw the publishing date. 2009?!?
