Default Requesting an aesthetic opinion

The xhtml-isation of my website continues. Part of this is to get away from the old habit of using tables for layout and move to css instead.

Here is the old version using tables for layout.

Here is the new version using css for layout.

Which version looks better?

Oh buggering GeoCities. The new version looks fine offline. Give me a moment while I try to straighten it out.

Okay, new approach. I've uploaded screenshots of the two versions as they look on my offline version and how they'll look when I move servers.

Here is the old version with tables.

Here is the new version with css.

I see almost no difference, so if you like css better, I'd say go for it.

I don't see a whole lot of difference, but CSS is definitely to be preferred for maintainability.

I also see very little difference, using Firefox 1.5
I agree about maintainability. It's also a good idea to get familiar with CSS if you aren't already. It's a good commercial thing to know.

I prefer the updated one, I don't like the look of the tables borders as much.

All right, I'll try this again. I actually did get a look at the new one earlier (and it loaded properly for me at first).

I like the top part of the new one better (though I would suggest padding the text a bit so it doesn't run right up to the border).

However, I prefer the table in the old one for the bottom half, solely because the spacing around each section is consistent.
