You're not being thick - I haven't a clue. In what context have you encountered it?

In the case of one of "System of a Down's" songs, it means "Bring your own Bombs".

From Wikipedia

B.Y.O.B. is an initialism for "bring your own bottle", "bring your own beer" or "bring your own booze," first recorded in the 1950s. It is usually used to indicate that the host of a party or social gathering will not be providing alcoholic beverages, but that guests are welcome to bring their own if they choose to do so.

B.Y.O.B. is also the name of a System of a Down song. In wich they intend on Bring Your Own Bombs.

Controversy may arise as to which of the three meanings of BYOB is correct, at which time it may be useful to know in terms of which is might be in wider use that a Google search of the three yields the following in terms of number of search results:

"Bring Your Own Beer": 57,900
"Bring Your Own Bottle": 66,900
"Bring Your Own Booze": 73,900
(Google search resutls for April 24, 2006.)

That's the PC version. As farmerjumperdon points out, the phrase goes back at least fifty years, the more prevalent (and probably original) being "booze". IIRC, "bong" was also a possibility. Let's see, only 250 google hits. Not bad, it's out there. More than blonde, bling, or bimbo (in that order)

I always thought it was used in context with the word "nose," as in, "Bud, you're on by dose."
