Default Anniversary + Astronomy

It is our 25th anniversary, amazingly, and my wife is ameanable to the idea of getting up into the mountains. We have earned some free air fares, too. It is important to have a nice motel, or cabin, with good local restraunts to make this a good anniversary.

We would like to go very soon - first week of June.

Where can we go that would allow me some observing time?

> I recall reading of a resort that has several quality telescopes that can be rented. I think it's in Arizona. Anyone know 'bout this?

> Flagstaff would be great because we could run up to the canyon. The Lowell is nearby, too, but charges $150 each for 90 minutes with a group, apparently.

> One of the solar observatories would be of special interest to me, though they might toss me out when I bring the heliochromology. [Seriously, it would be super if I could buy lunch (or dinner) for any of the solar astronomers just to get to meet them and get their thoughts on some of my ideas. ]

Mt. Magazine, highest point in Arkansas, is having it's grand opening for it's lodge and cabins on the 19, 20 and 21st of May. A couple of astronomy clubs will be there, as well as other activities. Just follow the rrac link in my sig. for more info.

Ps. We have 'lectricity and toliet paper in Arkansas now so you want have to bring your own.

Thanks. Us Texans know a lot about the need for toliet paper, so my Arkansas friends say.

There is at least one resort that has about three scopes for their guests. I think one is close to 30 inch in aperature. However, a cool place with a local club outing would be great, too.

Titania, thanks.
