Good thing she ordered the veggie pizza, otherwise it might have had fried egg and spam on top!

I love anchovies too.
Could you please be more specific?

I like pineapple and ham on pizza too, but just those two alone. Otherwise I like just about anything and everything except anchovies. Not a big sausage fan either. Because it's across the street from my apartment (and fast), I'll get the Pizza Hut "Stuffed-Crust Pizza Supreme" with the cheese in the crust (onions, olives, bell peppers, etc.) I grew up eating good pizza in New Haven and New York...the chains just don't make the same thing as the mom & pop places.

Dominos? Yeah, I'd agree.
But it seems you're not a fan of real (NY style) pizza, either.

I worried that this thread might turn vicious over the preponderance of meat toppings or even the dispute over the propriety of pineapple slices, but who thought it would turn into a food-fight over Chicago-style versus New York-style pizza? Play nice!

It's New Haven pizza!! (Ok, thin crust)

Good link with more links--down the page are the different American style pizzas: http://www.answers.com/topic/pizza

The pictures are making my mouth water...I think I'll have pizza for dinner tonight.

Toppings, shmoppings. It doesn't make any difference what you top the pie with... with what you top... whatever. What really counts is the dough and the sauce. Get those right - and cook them right - and the toppings are just icing on the cake... er, pie.

BTW, our local Fast Food Critic says the best pizza in the world is made by Da Baffetto's in Rome. Although there's a place in Houston that he likes, too.

Oh, and an egg on top is apparently an Italian thing, not English.

Yeah, you're right. Sorry.

It's really no competition at all.

No need to worry, just having fun.

Wouldn't want pizza joining the ranks of religion and politics as banned topics.

Anybody want to do hot dogs?

There was this place in Chicago where I used to get Chili Cheese Polish.

Very yummy, and good for the digestive track like a roto-rooter is good for a clogged drain.

Re eggs, there´s a Portuguese variety that takes cheese, ham, sliced boiled eggs, lots of onions and olives [and oregano, of course].

Me and my girlfriend love hot peppers and the like on ours but we also made a nice all day breakfast pizza a while back. Fried egg, tomato, sausage, bacon, iirc a hash brown as well. We sadly didnt have any black pudding. It tasted lovely.

One of the best pizzas ive ever bought was a quattro formaggio from a resteraunt just over the road from the Collesieum in Rome. It had the most wonderful melted blue cheese topping. Im no fan of blue cheese normally but melted its a different matter.

Now im very hungry and my mouth is watering....is it dinner time yet?

Anchovies good - but not in combination with tandoori chicken, olives, jalapenos & barbeque sauce (how drunk were we...not enough to think it tasted good!). Definately like pineapple. Fav is generally seafood, had wonderful salmon, prawn, calamari & baby octopus pizza from bar in Wanaka, New Zealand - also some tasty venison sausage toppings down there.

Sure, as long as no one tries to put ketchup on them.

I have, among many others, a 13 page thread devoted to the question: Does ketchup go on Hot Dogs?. And at the moment, I even have a forum named: Kecthup on Hotdogs (and Other Nonsense). Though yesterday, the forum's name was "The Allahuak Bar" so don't take it too seriously.

Looking at this thread it seems that pizza can be considered a common denominator for all cultures. It´s the food of the human race.

I wonder if there´s some kind of eastern variety [Arab, Chinese...].

(*) Come to think of it, the all-Arab sfiha, resembles a tiny pizza.

Well from what I've heard, pizza was originally just bread with leftovers dumped on it. I'd say that's about as multicultural as you can get.

Now that we can agree on, except you spelled it wrong - it's Catsup.

But seriously; my daughters put mustard and ketchup on their dogs. I guess that is to be expected of little kids. Still makes me wince though when they ask for it.

I like mine with chesse (as a good Wisconsonian we put cheese on most everything), dill pickle relish (can't stand sweet relish on meat), mustard (plain is OK - spicy is better), and chopped raw onions. And I like a scrawny little generic bun so i get maximum meat impact. I don't like those bulky brat buns. If I want to eat a loaf of bread, I'll eat a loaf of bread.

We are of one mind here. Many a cheese dog w/ mustard, relish and onion has parted these NY Style pizza lovin' lips of mine. Okay, I guess you're not so bad after all.

I pronounced this wrong in my head the first time I read this; I had been unaware, previously, that one polished chili cheese.
