Smile What makes you happy?

For me its hanging out with friends and making jokes. PLaying sports definately makes me feel better, and its weird how that happens.
On a more serious side, im feel happy when i have actually done my best at something and just completed a task which i decided to do.

What makes you feel happy?

Depends on what's going on. Today, happiness would be banishment of a certain extremely whiny end user (who happens to have accrued the euphemistic title of Project Sponsor).

Misery is a sponsor who doesn't trust you with the requirements and insists on starting the project by designing the solution themselves in minute detail.

What makes you miserable?

Wa, wa, wha, what! there is a life outside of the BAUT forum?!?
... We are the BAUT, you will be assimilated

Hanging out with friends & having a laugh definitely. Sports no, unless it's seeing West Ham win. Used to really enjoy solving/writing/finishing a particularly difficult piece of software, at the codeface.
Just learning something new & going 'ah ha' in general

Oops, did I forget my girlfriend, ow! ow! ow! it was included above honest!

A rambunctious co-op match of Halo 2 with my best friend. Watching my 8mo goddaughter up on all-fours trying to figure out crawling, turn her head at me, and smile that radiantly infectious smile of hers. Then capping the evening with wings and pepperoni at my favorite pub/brewery.

Let's see. The Army not losing my boyfriend--honestly, if they can't keep track of him in Spokane, how can we trust them to keep track of him on another continent?

In fact, him getting back. That'd make me happy. Though the setup so that I'll hear from him as often as possible will, I suppose, have to do.

My best friend finally being less than 2000 miles away. In fact, less than 2000 feet. In fact, asleep on my couch.

Seeing X-Men in a theatre full of geeks last night--much better than the theatre full of stupid teenagers in which I saw Goblet of Fire last year. Cooler, too. And the total stranger sitting in front of us offered to go beat annoying people with my stick so I didn't have to get up.

New books. A Netflix account with Connections 3 set to start showing up. My cat being friendly and keeping Bathtub Monsters at bay every time I bathe. (Even if he's asleep, he wakes up at the sound of running water and comes in to stand guard. So cute!) The slumber party we're having this weekend. Having someone with opposable thumbs around again to help when I hurt too much to move.

Oh, and not having this blasted cold anymore.

Hair, tentacles or anything else dangly/wavy. Octopuses make me giggle like a little girl, as does the sea urchin in the aquarium at work (though I noticed he's gone missing). I can play with a piece of string for an hour or two. And I can't resist a woman with pretty hair.

Running until the skin falls off my feet and I can't move my legs any more, resting two minutes, then turning around and running home.

Learning something new.

And just finding out that I got $200 more than I expected on my tax return!

MDMA.

But seriously, after thinking about it, the thing that actually makes me happiest is doing recording sessions. Reads a little strangely if you're not a musician, but when all is said and done that is what makes me happiest.

Seeing kooks debunked by the likes of Jay Utah or Phil. Or even more fun, by myself.

Chatting with friends, learning new physics, are some of the things that make me happy.

Discovering a kindred spirit who "gets" me.
Eating good food.
The coast (and all that goes with it...sun, sky, stars, crabs, etc).
Clever humor.
Rollercoasters.
Days off of work.
Music.

Combine them all and that's a great day.

Seeing some unexpected or unknown beauty, be it in nature, art, or women.
Relaxing with my girlfriend and daughter.
Treasure hunting at the flea market, when its sunny and I'm successful at it (doesn't happen that often, the latter).

  • Friends, especially friends who grok me, and I grok them.
  • A good climb, where after two days, one finally reaches the summit and the weather is 150-mile clear.
  • As with Wurm Stern, making people laugh.
  • Looking at the night sky when the seeing is crystal-clear, whether with binocs, scope, or just the eyes.
  • Music, especially Mahler and Ives.
  • Understanding something I didn't understand before.
  • A ham Italian, washed down with Moxie, with a side of Humpty Dumpty salt & vinegar potato chips, while in the State of Maine.
  • A good book.
  • A good movie.
  • Last, but in no way least (just the opposite), my son.
