"An excessive desire to acquire or possess more than what one needs or deserves, especially with respect to material wealth." (emphasis added) In other words, the word "greed" carries unfair and subjective connotations for this statement. There are greedy people in any society, but merely looking out for your own interests is not automatically greed.

If I set the budget, we'd have Ares and more. Unfortunately, I don't set the budget, and Ares is just too expensive and too far out for us to accomplish our goals within the budget we were given. If we halt the ISS, all versions of Ares, and transport Orion and Altair aboard DIRECTv3's Jupiter family of Shuttle-Derived Launch Vehicles, we just might make it back to the Moon by 2020. |

Don't worry. The US Senate is on the job. Oops. Worry.
From the Scientific American Sciam Observations Blog, but it's all over the Web, wherever people like to express exasperation with the decision-makers: Senator Ted Stevens, chairman of the Senate Commerce Committee, explains the Internet: Quote:

Moneygrubbers!
Fortunately, the current business model fell into place quite naturally (open market economics) and is quite stable. I strongly suspect far more companies would loose money under the proposed model. Therefore, those companies backing the proposed model would have quite an uphill fight!

The advertising blitz has begun; 30-second spot series by the telcoms now airing with authoritative voice-over: "Confused over net-neutrality?...a money grabbing effort by the Silicon Valley giants...just remember, You Pay!...", sponsored by National Cable and Telecommunications Association.
"You pay" seems to be their current mantra, probably destined to "out-Geico" the frequency of their TV ad appearances. |
