I thought the 13th constellation was the spider or some such weirdness. I mean I know the zodiac is outa whack by 3000 years or so- but where does the the 13th constellation fall - and what is Cetus- a 14th constellation?

Yes, H.P. Lovecraft- he is my favorite author. He was always writing about aliens from devil stars like Aldbaren or some such. And he created Cthulhu and the Necronomicon of course.

Btw- I'm no scientist but I'm fairly well acqauntied with most of the pseudo sciences. I'm a big fan and believer of Zachariah Sitchen's 12 planet (Niburu)books..and I grew up reading Von Daniken and Velikovsky...

I draw and write a satirical comic book about space travel called 'Space Realtors'...

You won't find many here who are fan's or believer of any of those three. Scientifically, there really isn't any evidence for them. Do a search for those terms and you will find several threads here showing why their ideas aren't even psudeoscience.

According to Sky Atlas 2000.0 by Wil Tirion from Sky Publishing Corp., a corner of Cetus just misses the ecliptic (zodiac) path as it goes through Pisces. It first enters Ophiuchus above Scorpius at ~17h 23m, and then enters Sagittarius at ~18h 43m.

What no Niburu fans here? And what do you mean no scientific evidence? I mean hasnpt Sumerian myths about Niburu been proven to be right by various deep space probes? And didn't Velikovsky invent the theory of catastrophism- ie the Earth was hit by a really big meteor?
And what about the Nazca lines? And the water erosion on the Great Sphinx?

No, Velikovsky never said the Earth was hit by anything. He said a massive comet was expelled by Jupiter (which is impossible), came extremely close to the Earth (which is impossible), flipped the Earth over several times (which is impossible), then settled into a stable orbit around the sun (which is impossible), and become Venus (which is impossible). What exactly does that have to do with asteroid impacts? The catastrophes he covers are completely different on nature than real ones, more biological, chemical, electrical and tidal than the sort of "blunt force trauma" we really see from astronomical objects. Especially the one that took place 65 million years ago. Velilovsky's "catastrophes" were in the last few thousand years yet leaft no physical traces, despite the fact that the traces of such an event would be pervasive and unmistakable. The modern catastrophes are accepted because they left massive physical remnants, some worldwide in scopes.

What about them? They tried to impress their Gods or ancestors or something. What is so weird about that, many cultures do such things. Megaliths and massive line art are found in many other places. If the dieties you are tring to impress live in the sky, naturally making something for them to see would involve making something that can be seen from the air. There is nothing really mysterious about the Nazca lines, they are mostly either simple geometric forms or stylized versions of animals present in their environment. I don't see aliens being particularly concerned with hummingbirds or monkeys, but it would be easy for Gods to have concerns for such creatures.

I don't recall any water erosion on the Sphinx. There was definitely a lot of sand erosion, but I don't recall seeing any sign of water anyhere on the Giza plateau, least of all the Sphinx. And even if there was, there may have been water there at some point. And what does that have to do with anything, anyway?

I honestly know nothing about Niburu.

BTW, Ophiuchus wasn't a mythic animal, but a "snake handler", who is very likely representative of a person named Laocoon involved with the Trojan War, who, along with his two sons, was killed by a snake(s) (or sea serpent(s)) sent by the gods. This inspired many scultures.

Read some primers on quantum mechanics or special & general relativity. Read about black holes and neutron stars. Read about gamma-ray bursters. Read about evolution.

Scientists are people that revel in the mysteries of the universe. The difference is that the subjects they study aren't made up by people trying to make a quick buck.

Scientists are people who when they look at a flower marvel not just at it's immediate beauty, but also at the way it's perfectly adapted to pollination by insects, who wonder at the intricate processes required to make its colours and scents, who marvel at the way simple compounds in the ground and air can combine with sunshine to make something so strong as to rise above the ground.
