Default Clear Your Lurker Flag Here

This thread is designed so I can make a useless post, to remove the message

Hello peter eldergill it appears that you have not posted on our forums in several weeks, why not take a few moments to ask a question, help provide a solution or just engage in a conversation with another member in any one of our forums?

Shall we maintain this as a thread for lurkers to delurk (briefly) and then disappear again?

Word doesn't mean what I thought it did:

lurk v.i. [ME, lurken], 1. to stay hidden, ready to attack. 2. to move furtively. -lurker, n. -lurkingly, adv.

I thought it meant to just hang out without interacting, but apparently it means to do that WITH some sort of intention of future agressive action.

I've got a couple end users I need to go lurk.

It has taken on some of that more benign meaning over the past few years, on the internet. Lurking is nothing to be ashamed of, like stalking.

I've never had a problem with that message myself.

Well I have offloaded most of my little
obsessions these past 9 months and most dont
take a blind bit of notice BTW "lurking" is
a popular word with television shows on
astronomy. Black Holes "lurk" like all
youngsters now know. And the show about Pluto
last night used it!

Unlurk. Something I do wonder is to how many people on this board this important message remains an invisible presence?

I don't *get it* why flag lurkers? I mean, it's not like lurking does any harm (does it?). Is it against the rules to lurk on BAUT?

I dunno it was discussed before though,

Sometimes I forget that there is this teeming under the radar activity, going on...

What opinions or information isn't being expressed I wounder, what personalities havn't we met?

I wonder...

I think this is supposed to be an outlet for lurkers trying to avoid a particular message BAUT presents to infrequent posters. I think your post count indicates that may not be a problem you face.

And of course, its not against the rules to lurk here on BAUT, but it is a state of membership that is actively discouraged.

while "stickys" are being made, I though that it would be a good idea if there was a spell checker sticky for people, like me, who aren't great at spelling. People could post links to spellcheckers like IEspell.com and there must be others. I know that you need a different spellchecker for firefox but I don't have the address for that.

The best FF spellchecker I've found is Spellbound However, the official version only works up to Firefox 1.0, for 1.5+ you'd want Spellbound Dev

Does the Sun appear to be the same color to lurkers as it does to those who have delurked?

I suppose it varies between them due to the different shades of sunglasses - a requisite for the incognito.
