Ok, that´s why I suggested taking pics of stucco statues, which would blend nicely into the frieze style. I know a person who may have some of those Chinese/Japanese statues. I´ll see if there´s an adequate one in her collection. Meanwhile, I´ll keep thinking about it.

You don't need a Photoshop guru. You need an artist.
Think about that. -- Jeff, in Minneapolis

If you are a writer and you don't understand how to use the
text editing program you are using -- call it 'Word' -- then you might ask a Word guru for advice. If you are a computer programmer and you don't know how to make your programming language -- call it 'C++' -- increase the size of button labels, then you might ask a C++ guru for advice. If you are a mountain climber and you don't know the best route up El Capitan, then you might ask a mountaineering guru for advice. If you are an artist and you don't understand how to make Photoshop apply a texture to a complexly curved surface, then you might ask a Photoshop guru for advice. If you want something written, but you can't write it yourself, then you might hire a writer to write it for you. Or you might ask a writer to write it for you for free. If you want a computer program, but you don't know anything about programming, then you might hire a programmer to write it for you. Or you might ask a programmer to write it for you for free. If you want to climb a mountain, but you have no experience, then you might hire a guide to take you. Or you might ask a guide to take you for free. If you want a drawing, but you don't have the skill to draw it yourself, then you might hire an artist to draw it for you. Or you might ask an artist to draw it for you for free. -- Jeff, in Minneapolis

A rich socialite needed a new hat for an important occasion.
Her milliner quickly created a beautiful design for her from a strand of ribbon. The socialite was enthralled and asked the fee. The milliner replied "One thousand Francs". The socialite gasped, "But that's so much money for a piece of ribbon!" The milliner unpinned the ribbon and handed it to her, saying, "Madam, the ribbon is free!"

There's some joke about a guy whose boat gets stuck on a sand bar in the Chesapeake Bay. He slogs his way onto shore and finds a local who offers to get his boat loose for $100. He and the local slog their way back to the stuck boat. The native takes a minute to size up the situation, then goes to the prow of the boat and gives it one hard downward push. The boat slides off and into the water.
So the boatman pulls out a hundred bucks and hands it over, somewhat ruefully, saying, "I can't believe I'm paying you a hundred dollars just to do that." The local smiles and pockets the bills. "Oh, it's only ten bucks for doing it. It's ninety bucks for knowing what to do."

I am a New Orleans, Jackson Square artist for a living and a photo editing expert as a hobby (but I don't use photo shop).
What you describe seems pretty easy. Since buisiness has been really bad here since Katrina I have time to work on it. When you post the picture I'll do a rough sketch and see if it's what you are looking for. I'm pretty sure I can come up with what you want. And I can always work on it until it is. |

Well, I've finally managed to get the necessary photos and put them online here. The posture example photos have been reduced for the web, but the source image, of necessity is rather large (808 KB), so be prepared when you download it.
Thanks to everyone offering to help with this.

1. Picking apples off a tree and dropping them on the ground.
2. Giving directions to someone backing a truck into the yard. 3. About to catch a football. Number 1 has a serious problem with the arm sticking straight out of the bas-relief. Can't do that. -- Jeff, in Minneapolis

I´m taking care of it later, ToSeek. I´m sure you´re aware that all the pictures to be blended with the background frieze have to be made in high resolution, since the purpose of the artwork is being physically printed.

I can supply high-res images of these, but I don't think blending is going to give me the result I want - again, I want people to do a double-take and realize that it's almost like the actual frieze but not quite.
