Yes, Argos. Hi Rahul, how are you in mumbai? I could not establish a cell phone connection with my nephew in mumbai but later his wife Mrs.Aditi said that they reached at home safely, infact he was taken today "early leave" from his office, he is working there as a Senior manager with one incorporation. There are lot of other relatives in mumbai but they found at the home and offices at that juncture. Rahul take care always in touring.

One of my friends and coworkers (whom I've known since 1982) has relatives in Mumbai and told me about this. Fortunately (for her, at least), no one she knows was hurt.

I'm always saddened by the "1.86371" steps back in humanity.

This is a terrible accident, and I hope the perpretrators are caught. But from my point of view it has compelled me to take a look at Mumbai through the eyes of Google Earth, something I've never thought to do before.

Interesting to learn that Mumbai is in fact an island! I certainly never suspected that before.

But is it a man-made island or has it been ever thus? Anyone know?

Ok, well I just went out and answered my own questions.

Mumbai is located on a man-made island, known as Salsette Island, which is an amalgamation of several smaller islands that were eventually bonded together by razing the local hillsides and filling in the gaps basically.

Here's a map provided by Encarta

Mumbai & Salsette Island

The island is sometimes also known as Sashti Island apparently, but I'm not sure where both of those names come from.

This is a disgusting act too horrible to comprehend. I can't understand how people could do something like this. Glad to here you're safe Rahul.

I hope I'm not seeing a pattern, but weren't the train bombings in London and Spain also in July?

It's beyond me! It's not a a bomb blast or anthing like that, but there has been a new site, just been launched, called www.crimexposouthafrica.co.za.

It's aim is to make outsiders aware of saftey issues and crime in South Africa. (perhaps all countries should have something like this?) Have a look.
